BAIC MZ45: Features explained
You might not have heard about BAIC, but it has been in the automobile industry of decades now and is among the largest vehicle manufacturers in China. With such vast experience in building vehicles, BAIC knows what it’s doing. In the Philippines, BAIC has already got a good number of vehicles to offer. One of its popular products is the BAIC MZ45. It is basically a long mini-van and/or transporter with an impressive passenger carrying capacity. BAIC designed this keeping in mind the market requirements of such a vehicle here in our country. Today, we’re going to make you a bit more familiar with the MZ45 by explaining some of its features.
Exterior features
Front chrome grille
Even though the MZ45 is a commercial vehicle, BAIC made sure that it is not left out of the drawing board during its designing phase. The front fascia of the MZ45 is pretty stylish. The main attractive element here is the grille. The two-piece fine mesh chrome grille really helps the MZ45 to have a youthful character. Due to its split arrangement, the chrome is of just the right quantity and doesn’t spoil the overall look of the vehicle.
Large headlamps
The design of the headlamps of the MZ45 is simple yet attractive. The headlamps themselves aren’t projectors but BAIC has cleverly designed them to have a projector-like appearance in terms of looks. Of course, the throw of the conventional halogen setup wouldn’t be as good as that of a projector, but it still is very good.
Outside rearview mirrors
BAIC has provided integrated turn signals in the outside rearview mirrors of the MZ45. The turn signals aren’t LEDs but hey, they are at least there. We usually don’t see them in such a commercial vehicle.
Vertical tail lights
The rear end of the BAIC MZ45 gets a pair of vertically stacked tail lights. These suit the overall look the mini-van perfectly. Also, the way the rear bumper smoothly meets these tail lights is quite nice. The large size of the tail lights means that the MZ45 is easily visible for those behind it, especially in the dark.
Interior features
It is an 11-seater
The BAIC MZ45 is based on its elder sibling the MZ40 which itself is a very capable mini-van. As we mentioned earlier, BAIC came up with the MZ45 as an upgrade to the MZ40 considering the growing demand of such vehicles in the local market. The upgrade included an extra row of seats which enables the MZ45 to accommodate 11 people in one go! The seating arrangement is of 2+3+3+3 fashion.
Dual rear AC vents
In order to keep all the 11 people on board comfortable, BAIC has provided the MZ45 dual rear AC vents. These vents are, of course, are mounted on the ceiling of the vehicle. Each row of vents has four separate units which can be adjusted individually. Also, both the vents are available with independent control. So, now all the occupants of the MZ45 would easily get conditioned air at all times.
Foldable rear seat
The last row of seats can be folded completely if you want to make some space for carrying luggage. Of course, you will lose out some seating capacity but that totally depends on the purpose why you want the MZ45 in the first place. This feature would come in handy if you need to carry some luggage in an urgency.
Basic interior
The interior of the BAIC MZ45 isn’t luxurious but it surely is functional and practical. It serves best the purpose it is designed for. There is a basic instrument cluster, a manual AC, and a simple music system. The use of materials in the dashboard is not cheap but nothing extraordinary.
Engine
The BAIC MZ45 specs have a 1.2-litre VVT inline 4-cylinder petrol engine. It produces 86 hp at 6000 rpm and 108 Nm at 4400 rpm. There is a 5-speed manual gearbox mated to it. It is capable to do a top speed of 120 kmph. The engine is sufficient to help the MZ45 do its job of carrying people.
So, those were some of the features of the BAIC MZ45. If you are in the market looking to buy an affordable long mini-van that can easily carry a number of people at a time, then the MZ45 might be the best bet for you. The BAIC MZ45 price in the Philippines is Php 598,000 and it is available in two different colours - Silver and White.
