BAIC PH previews 5-car lineup prior to public launch

MANILA: Following the announcement that United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI) is the new official distributor of BAIC (Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Company Limited) in the Philippines, the firm also unveiled its five-nameplate roster.

In a preview event for motoring media, bankers, and dealer partners, BAIC Philippines displayed its initial lineup namely the B40 Ragnar, B60 Beaumont, B80 Wagon, X55 Verve, and X7 Grandeza.

The multi-brand automotive distributor in the country shared that the B40 Ragnar, B80 Wagon, and B60 Beaumont (diesel hybrid) are all body-on-frame, four-wheel drive, turbocharged SUV models with engine displacements ranging from 2.0 up to 3.0 liters, which can deliver 380-420 Newton-meters (Nm) of pulling power.

Meanwhile, the monocoque-bodied crossovers BAIC X55 Verve and the X7 Grandeza are both equipped with 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engines that have the capability to dish out as much as 305 Nm of torque.

Below are the models’ indicative prices:

• B40 Ragnar: P2.4 million
• B60 Beaumont: P3.2 million
• B80 Wagon: P4.5 million
• X55 Verve: P1.4 million
• X7 Grandeza: P1.7 million

Spearheading BAIC Philippines are UAAGI Managing Director Froilan Dytianquin, Chief Marketing Executive Lyn Buena, and BAIC Brand Head and General Manager Christopher David Yu, under the helm of the firm’s chair, Rommel Sytin.

In addition, BAIC Philippines also launched its brand tagline "Dare to Drive Big" in its bid to bring to customers the “spirit of adventure and the boldness to surpass conventional boundaries.” “It encapsulates the essence of exploration, discovery, and the courage to embrace new paths and experiences,” the company explained.

Specifications of the BAIC Philippines offerings are expected to be shared on its public launch at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show on April 4.
