BMW unveils X2 M35i M Performance
MANILA: BMW, in the recent times, has been working well with its M Performance set of cars. And while doing so, has come up with a high-performance version of the SUV-coupe named the X2 M35i. This flagship model is slated to hit the European market in March 2019.
There have been quite a few upgrades on the newly-unveiled BMW X2 M35i over the standard. The exhaust is louder and sportier than the other versions and has the twin setup. Moreover, the suspension is tuned a bit and has the adaptive dampers (optional) while the front wheel has the M Sport Differential. Both the rear view mirrors and front bumper get the Cerium Gray paint job.
As for the design, the new BMW X2 M35i has the same styling traits as the present optional M Sport Package. This includes more cooling intakes, rear spoiler, and 19-inch or 20-inch wheels.
On the mechanical front, BMW says this X2 M35i has the first ever four-cylinder M Performance engine. Hence, this new motor is a TwinPower, 2.0-litre turbocharged engine which can make a maximum power of 306 PS along with a peak torque of 450 Nm. This means the current in-line four-cylinder 3.0-litre engine from the M140i hatchback is not used here.
With this much of power produced by the engine, the car can hit the 0-100 kmph acceleration mark in just 4.9 seconds. However, the top speed is limited to 250 kmph which is slightly lower than the Mercedes and AMG’s GLA 45. The produced power is sent down to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission unit that also has the launch control system given as standard.
