KEY TAKEAWAYS
By how much is BPI expecting to cut off its annual diesel consupmtion by transitioning to electric mobility?
According to BPI, it expects to slash its diesel consumption by 30,000 liters per year thanks to its new EV shuttle service. What route will the EV shuttle service take to ferry BPI's employees?
Per BPI, the said EV shuttle service will ply BPI Buendia Center and MRT Buendia Station.According to the financial institution, the said EV will be used to provide free shuttle services for its employees traveling between BPI Buendia Center and MRT Buendia Station.
“In BPI, we believe that the first step to building a sustainable future is by starting within ourselves, within the organization,” BPI President and Chief Executive TG Limcaoco stated.
“We are excited to roll out a more environment-friendly and sustainable shuttle service for our employees. This forms part of our mission to help build a better Philippines — one family, one community at a time,” he added.
Per BPI, the electrified shuttle service can accommodate up to 30 passengers. That said, it can ferry twice the number of passengers compared to traditional shuttle service vehicles that can only cater to 15 travelers at a time.
In terms of social inclusivity, BPI’s leased EV has a wheelchair ramp that allows persons with disabilities to easily board and alight the vehicle. The ramp also allows easier boarding for people carrying bikes and other wheeled items.
The EV also harnesses an intelligent fleet management system, which includes GPS tracking, route optimization, and maintenance alerts. The said features — BPI noted — can be accessed through the GETPass App.
Most importantly, the use of an EV shuttle service will allow the banking firm to slash its diesel consumption by 30,000 liters per year. As a result, it will reduce BPI’s greenhouse gas emissions by 40,000 kilograms of CO2 per year.
“We are glad to see that more companies are pushing for the use of EVs and starting to realize its positive impact not only on the environment but also on their bottom line… We are happy to partner with BPI and support their sustainability initiatives through our sustainable transport solutions,” noted GET President Freddie Tinga.
