Buick Enspire Electric Concept revealed
MANILA: Another manufacturer which is entering the electric game is the American auto giant, Buick. At the ongoing Beijing Motor Show, it revealed the all-electric, mid-size crossover concept named Enspire. Although it is a crossover, Buick has managed to give an elegant touch to the concept. The Enspire features smooth curves covering the body with a wide and aggressive stance.
The front grille is not what most of the Buick models possess. It is a crossbar stretched as a large wing with a solid illuminated insert. The rear features one long, slender line that forms a pseudo-spoiler and also acts as the tail lights for the crossover.
Inside the Enspire concept, you will find a number of futuristic elements. The infotainment unit is an OLED touchscreen which also features augmented reality capabilities. To give a touch of luxury, the Enspire is graced with real wood inserts on the armrests and center console.
Under the hood, it is equipped with a 410 kW electric motor with a potential to deliver 550 hp of maximum power and a claimed acceleration of 0-60 mph in just 4 seconds. It is not just nimble, it also offers a range of approximately 370 miles, making it better than the longest-range Tesla. The cherry on the top is the fast charging support with Buick saying to achieve 80 percent charge within 40 minutes. It might also feature wireless charging support.
The production version of Enspire is still not on cards but, with the said capabilities and luxury on offer, it will be an immensely expensive electric car. Maybe the pricing would surpass the Tesla Model S and the Jaguar I-Pace. As General Motors has a clear vision of improving the electric lineup of the group, Buick’s electric crossover could be a good pick to start with. Let’s see what Buick has to offer in the particular segment and how the concept’s design elements spill over the other models of the company.
