Changan PH to introduce 'best-selling' Eado EV460 at 2022 MIAS

MANILA: Amid the demand for electric vehicles around the world and China, Changan Motor Philippines, Inc. (CMPI) believes it introduced the purely electric Eado EV460 in a timely fashion during the brand’s local launch in November 2020.

In 2021, the China Passenger Car Association reports that China sold a total of 2.99 million passenger EVs, accounting for around half of all EVs sold globally, CMPI stated. 

As early as 2017, Changan launched its ambitious US$15-billion new energy strategy called the “Shangri-La Plan,” which envisions the auto giant to be a global EV leader by 2030, selling at least three million new energy vehicles (NEVs) by 2025.

By 2018, Changan had sold a total of 90,000 of its EV units, products of its Chongquing and Beijing research and development facilities dedicated to EV production.

Of these models, the first one to hit Philippine shores is the Eado EV460, hailed as China’s “greenest vehicle” and “Model of the Year” at the China Green Car Annual Awards (2018).

In 2021, Changan’s Eado series saw cumulative global sales exceeding 1.2 million. 

The R&D team at the Changan new energy labs loaded the Eado EV460 with the industry's pioneering "three-in-one electric drive" system, which allows the energy of each charge to be released to the fullest, achieving longer endurance at the same power level.

Changan believes this solves slow charging issues. It takes eight hours to fully charge the Eado EV460, which means that the car can be plugged in overnight without worrying about the next day’s drive Charging from 30- to 80-percent could take 30 minutes on a quick charger. 

The Eado EV460's Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), powered by a Ternary (lithium ion) battery, yields a maximum power of 136ps and maximum torque of 245Nm. The innovative single pedal mode gives full control of the car’s movement by simply stepping on the accelerator pedal.

Under the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), the Eado EV460 boasts a cruising range of 430-550 kilometers while traveling at  60km per hour. The vehicle's “460” name is inspired by the claimed range. This Changan EV proudly surpasses same-class EVs that are on the market today, which average 300km under the same said driving conditions.

The Eado EV 460's boasts of a sturdy, well-built, simple yet dynamic body design; classy interiors with plush leather seats; air-conditioning with a sleek mono digital display; cruise control; a seven-inch digital instrument cluster; an audio system with a 10-inch high-definition touchscreen for cutting edge infotainment and real-time monitoring of your car’s charging state; onboard connectivity (Bluetooth, WiFi); and a sun roof. 

In the safety department, it offers an enviable suite of smart safety features. These include six airbags, smart key with illuminated push start/stop button, anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control, brake assist, traction control system, hill hold control, emergency stop signal, reverse camera, rear parking sensors, Isofix, child safety lock, seatbelt reminder for driver and front passenger, and tire pressure monitoring system.

The Eado EV460 is now available to order and is priced at P1.828 million at Changan dealerships. Interested buyers may do so at CMPI's website and through CAIA, Changan’s AI Chatbot.

The Eado EV460 will be presented at the Changan Limitless Pavilion at the 2022 Manila International Auto Show on April 7 to 10.
