Chery Auto PH launches inspection campaign for 2024 Tiggo 5X Pro

MANILA: Chery Auto Philippines (CAP) has recently called for a service inspection campaign that involved the Tiggo 5X Pro.

In its letter to Department of Trade and Industry-Consumer Protection and Advocacy Bureau Director Cherryl Carbonell dated last May 9, the company shared that the preventive service recall was to immediately address the possible insufficient welding bead dimension on the crossover's rear torsion beam assembly.

The company noted that the program was launched after Chery International informed them that several Tiggo 5X Pro units are suspected to have the issue following the latter’s quality audit.

It also came after an issue erupted involving an Omoda 5 overseas, experiencing the said problem in the same portion. The nameplate’s retail has yet to start in the Philippines.

The said issue, CAP noted in the letter, could lead to “breakage during vehicle operations, especially if driven under hard conditions."

“It is therefore our utmost priority to promptly and efficiently address any potential safety issues to uphold the trust and confidence of our customers,” the firm said.

Per CAP, a total of 90 units were affected by the recall.

The company noted that those who are affected shall receive official notification letters from the company and will be contacted by Chery dealerships for the facilitation of the inspection.

The inspection will take around 30 minutes. Should the concerned vehicle need the necessary replacement, it will undergo a five-hour procedure upon the vehicle’s schedule of arrival.

Further, CAP guaranteed that the replacement will be free of charge to the owners.
