Chery Auto PH sales skyrocket by 143% in April

MANILA: Sales of Chery Auto Philippines more than doubled in April compared to the same month last year. The company said in a release that this is thanks to improved consumer brand awareness and growing market confidence in an improving pandemic climate. The company recorded a 143% increase and a best-ever monthly figure for the brand, which debuted just four months before the hard lockdown in March 2020.

The figures show the growing demand for the company's crossover lineup, which includes the subcompact Tiggo 2, Tiggo 2 Pro, and Tiggo 5x, the compact turbocharged Tiggo 7 Pro, and the top-of-the-line midsize seven-seater turbocharged Tiggo 8, which got a new model, the Tiggo 8 Pro, last month. Since its first big launch in late 2019, the brand has experienced massive, consistent growth month after month, especially this year.

People need fully equipped yet affordable mobility and we have the right mix of value-packed Tiggo models with luxury, comfort, and safety features to suit any requirement or budget,” UAAGI President Erroll Duenas stated.

Last May, Chery hosted two batches of media drives up and down Mount Samat with the new Tiggo 8 Pro. “We were pleased to read about the highly positive media feedback about our new Chery Tiggo 8 Pro. Our pre-selling activities were also received very well by the market and we are now proud to announce that our whole initial inventory of Tiggo 8 Pro models has been sold out. Needless to say, we expect even higher growth in the coming months as new stocks of our flagship model arrive,” Duenas said.

The Tiggo 8 Pro comes standard with Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) features such as Rear Cross Traffic Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Door Opening Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Integrated Cruise Assist, Intelligent High-Beam Control, Lane Departure Warning, and Speed Limit Sign Recognition. The Tiggo 8 Pro 1.6 Turbo is powered by a petrol engine that churns out 195hp, while the Tiggo 8 Pro PHEV is driven by a gasoline engine and an electric motor that produces a total output of 320hp.

The entry-level yet feature-packed Tiggo 2 subcompact crossover is leading the Chery sales charge. It is powered by a Euro 5-compliant 1.5-liter DOHC 16-valve VVT engine and is available in manual and automatic variants.

One level higher is the Tiggo 5x subcompact crossover, which shares the Tiggo 2's drivetrain and is available in both manual and automatic variants. Its top trim level, the Tiggo 5x Luxury, is equipped with a sunroof and a wide array of comfort and convenience features. Chery is having a Father's Day promo for the Tiggo 5x, which offers an additional P5,000 discount from its retail price until June 30.

One size higher is the compact European-inspired Tiggo 7 Pro, with a powerful but fuel-efficient turbocharged 1.5-liter VVT engine paired to an automatic transmission.

Chery's industry-leading warranty and PMS program, Premium Preserv, which includes an industry-leading 10-year one million-kilometer engine warranty, a five-year general warranty (seven years for the Tiggo 8 Pro), and a free full PMS for three years, is also contributing to the brand's rapid growth.

The budget-friendly auto loan packages offered by Chery's bank partners, the availability of Chery's EC Mobile Home Service, and the growing number of buyers looking for affordable yet fully equipped cars are other factors for Chery's rapid sales growth, said the brand.
