MANILA: Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. (Pilipinas Shell) signed a three-year agreement with Chery Auto Philippines. where the lubricants of the fuel company will be utilized on engines for after-sales maintenance in the service centers of Chery. This is to guarantee that auto brand's vehicles remain in good condition.

During the launch of the collaboration, Vice President of Shell Lubricants Steve Quila shared, “Pilipinas Shell has always been dedicated to supplying premium, dependable, and economic vehicle engine oils to consumers around the country. Pandemic or not, our commitment hasn’t stopped and will only continue to grow as more people realize how critical mobility is to their everyday lives. We are honored to partner up with Chery Auto Philippines and are confident they can help us further our mission of supporting automobiles nationwide.”

For the past 10 years, SUVs, crossovers, and passenger cars have been among the most rapidly growing vehicle categories in the country.

In 2019, these vehicles accounted for 69.18% share of the market; and this established their position as the driving force of the industry. 

But similar to most sectors, the automotive industry was affected by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, such that vehicle sales were significantly lower in 2020. 

Nevertheless, the importance of mobility was also greatly emphasized the previous year and along with this, vehicle ownership has been projected to increase worldwide amid the concerns of the pandemic.

In two cases, the flexi molecule-technology of the HX7 5W-40  generates barriers of protection around engine components. 

First, during cases where there is high pressure such as a race or the need to shift direction to avoid a collision, the flexi-molecules create a shield around metal contacts like the valve train to give protection to the engine, especially when most of the oil is being released.

Second, high temperatures activate the flexi-molecules of the HX7 5W-40, which form a barrier in turbochargers for oxidation control.

An essential aspect to remember regarding flexi-molecules is that they do not work under low pressure or low temperature conditions, such as a smooth drive on the roads where the vehicle maintains a stable pace; the technology reserves its protection capacities when the car needs it the most.

The engine and its related components also acquire 40% better protection from the flexi-molecules technology.
