Chery PH retains old pricing despite gov’t safeguard tariff
MANILA: Chery Auto Philippines announced the deferral of its price increase despite the government’s newly implemented safeguard tariff. The company has decided to postpone the price adjustment as a way of helping its customers amid this challenging time.
In a statement, Chery Auto Philippines President Rommel Sytin said, “We previously announced price increases in compliance with the Department of Trade and Industry’s Department Administrative Order (DAO) imposing a provisional safeguard tariff on certain imported cars and light commercial vehicles, but we have decided to absorb the tariff instead of passing it on to the consumer with higher prices.”
Chery Auto Philippines will retain its old pricing for the full Tiggo lineup until the end of the month. The complete price list is indicated below.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) issued a provisional safeguard measure on imported cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) as a response to the Philippine Metalworkers Alliance’s petition to save the local car manufacturing industry. The Safeguard Measures Act allows the government to impose safeguard tariffs to give relief to the local carmakers when there is a threat from the growing amount of vehicle imports in the country.
In these challenging times, Chery Auto Philippines stays true to its commitment of making available safe, reliable, and feature-rich vehicles to its customers. In January, the brand recorded a remarkable monthly sales growth and launched the all-new Chery Tiggo 7, which had quickly sold out within a month from its arrival in the country. Chery Auto Philippines is still receiving deposits and pre-orders for the next batch which is expected to be released this month.
Another top-seller is the entry-level Chery Tiggo 2 subcompact crossover that uses a Euro 5-compliant 1.5-liter DOHC 16-valve VVT engine. The Tiggo 2 is available in manual and automatic variants. It also now comes in two-tone colors with black roof and pillars.
Meanwhile, the Chery Tiggo 5x uses the same 1.5-liter engine which is also mated to a manual or automatic transmission, depending on the variant.
The recently launched Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is motivated by a 1.5-liter engine that delivers 145hp and 210Nm of torque. It comes with a new nine-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Chery levels up its crossover game with the midsize seven-seater Tiggo 8, which is crafted with first-class quality and luxury car features. It is powered by a 1.5-liter engine paired to an automatic transmission. The Chery Tiggo 8 comes with a unique Chery Smartwatch Key that works as a fitness tracker and a remote switch for the engine, air conditioning system, windows, and tailgate.
To guarantee worry-free ownership for its customers, every Chery vehicle purchase comes with a 10-year or one million-km engine warranty, a five-year general warranty, and free preventive maintenance service (PMS) for three years. Chery also offers various affordable auto loan packages through its bank partners.
Chery Auto Philippines still offers its EC Mobile Home Service program for a more convenient customer experience. They also encourage customers to use the Chery Auto PH App, where users can access the digital showroom, book a test drive, schedule a car maintenance and repair appointment, purchase spare parts, request for a quotation, and send inquiries regarding Chery models.
