Chevrolet Malibu: Know its alternatives

MANILA: The sedan segment in the Philippines is thriving thanks to the number of good cars in the country. This also means that the customers have more options to select from. While it is a good thing for the customers, it does become a bit tough for the brands as they need to come up with different or unique features to sell or market their products. Chevrolet Malibu falls in the sedan segment and it has been around for quite some time now.

Chevrolet has done a brilliant job with the latest model of the Malibu. It is a gorgeous car with very subtle curves and lines. The extended wheelbase enhances the road presence of the car. The interior has a unique color theme which gives a very calm and relaxed feeling. The seats are very comfortable and provide amazing support. Chevrolet Malibu specs have only a single 2.0-litre engine which has 250 hp and 353 Nm. There are enhanced safety features like 8 airbags, different parking aids, ABS, blind zone alert, etc. With these kinds of features, Chevrolet has hit the bull’s eye but alternatives are always available. Within the proximity of the Chevrolet Malibu price, following are some of the alternatives.

Mazda 6

Mazda has really got a very strong product line-up in the Philippines. From hatchbacks to sedans, it has got everything covered. Giving a good competition to the Malibu is the Mazda 6. It is inspired by Mazda Vision Coupe concept car which itself had been awarded as the ‘Most beautiful concept car of the year’ at the 33rd Festival Automobile International. And clearly, the work shows. The Mazda 6 is a very handsome-looking car with a touch of elegance. The front of the car features Mazda’s iconic grille and headlight design. You can never mistake this for any other car than a Mazda.

The interior of the Mazda 6 is loaded with features and luxury. The dashboard is very neatly finished and the brown and black interior theme feels very classy. There is an 8-inch display with Mazda connect for all the entertainment requirements. The Mazda 6 specs have got two engine options available here in the Philippines. One is a 2.2-litre diesel engine which produces 190 PS and 450 Nm and the other is a 2.5-litre petrol engine which churns out 190 PS and 252 Nm. Both the engines come mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The Mazda 6 price starts at Php 1.84 million and goes all the way up to Php 2.25 million.

Honda Accord

The Honda Accord price in the Philippines starts at Php 1.94 million and at that price, it offers a lot. To begin with, the design. The latest Honda Accord is no doubt a modern car. It has Honda’s brilliant styling which will make you look at it many times. At the front, we are pulled by the sleek and sharp LED headlamps which have integrated LED DRLs below. Also, the chrome grille works as a cherry on top of the cake. The rear end of the Accord is even more beautiful and appealing than the front. The wide two-piece tail lights are very attractive.

Under the hood of the new Honda Accord features a powerful 2.4-litre engine that is tuned to produce 175 PS and 226 Nm. It comes mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. The engine is very refined and smooth and provides a pleasurable driving experience. Honda has also provided good safety features like numerous airbags, ABS, EBD, stability control, etc.

Toyota Camry 2019

This is another good alternative to the Chevrolet Malibu. The 2019 Toyota Camry has been recently launched in the country and it has definitely hit the market with a bang. The new model is just fabulous. The design and style are immaculate and you are likely to spend a good amount of time admiring them. Irrespective of the angle of view, the new Toyota Camry is simply beautiful.

Being a Camry, it comes with a sophisticated and polished interior. There are some amazing features like the cabin illumination and the very useful and gorgeous capacitive control panel at the centre armrest of the rear seats. And you will be at peace knowing about the long list of safety features of this car.

The Toyota Camry 2019 price is Php 1.81 million for the 2.5G model and Php 1.99 million for the 2.5V model. Both of them are available in 7 color options.

So, these were some of the main alternatives of the Chevrolet Malibu that one can consider. All of these cars are better in one or the other aspect and you wouldn’t be disappointed by any of them. It all comes down to personal preferences and needs which would help you to make your final decision.
