Though this article is solely dedicated to Chevrolet, but you can find all the information about other brands that attended MIAS here at CarBay. Coming back to Chevrolet's MIAS booth, it housed some new and existing cars. The one that made most headlines was Chevrolet Sail, accompanied with the likes of Chevrolet Colorado, Trailblazer and 2015 launched Trax.
Now let's get to know each in bit of a detail -
Chevrolet Sail falls under the B-segment sedan category and thus is equipped to compete with the likes of Mitsubishi Mirage G4, Mazda2 and Honda Brio Amaze. This is the first time Chevrolet has introduced Sail in the Philippines, as the car was originally built for the Chinese roads. For the Philippines market, Sail is available in two engine options -first is a 1.3-litre four-cylinder 99 hp mill and another one is a more powerful 109 hp 1.5-litre engine. Both mills are coupled with a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic gearbox respectively. Apart from its excellent dimensions and spacious interiors car comes stuffed with features like multifunctional steering wheel, anti-lock brake system, electronic brake-force distribution, cornering brake control, 4-airbags and much more. Also, Sail has registered many awards under its name, and to the long list are included tags like Best Premium Compact Car in Initial Quality, and Most Appealing Premium Compact Car. The car is expected to go on sale in the market by June this year.
Colorado has dominated the pickup-truck arena of the Philippines auto market since 2013, and after a long time, its makers have brought in an addition. At the 2016 MIAS was spotted its newest variant, housing a 2.8-litre Duramax turbo-diesel 4X2 mill coupled with an automatic gearbox. The said engine delivers a maximum power of 200 hp along with a peak torque of 500 Nm. This newest addition is now up for sale and holds a whopping price tag of PhP 1,278,888.
Last October Chevrolet Philippines unveiled its new crossover named Trax. So, it doesn't come as a surprise to see one accompanying the likes of Sail and Colorado at MIAS. Trax comes loaded with a segment-first 1.4-litre turbocharged gasoline engine that is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode option. On the entertainment front, Trax is the first in its class to offer Siri Eyes Free feature, and in addition, it is equipped with voice-controlled Chevrolet MyLink feature. To the list of its advanced safety features are included Panic Brake Assist, Straight Line Stability, Rear Wheel Boost, Traction Control System, Hill Descent Control, Tire Pressure Monitoring System and Engine Drag Control.
The last one to feature on Chevrolet MIAS booth was its highly competitive midsize SUV , Trailblazer. Powered by a second-generation 2.8-litre Duramax turbocharged engine, pouring out a maximum power of 200 hp at 3600 rpm and peak torque of 500 Nm at 2000 rpm. In addition, this classic yet rugged SUV is fitted with the latest equipment like Camaro-inspired LED gauges, reverse camera, leather seat cover, rear armrest, luggage cover, Chevrolet MyLink with Mobile Connect for iOS and Android and automatic climate control.
That's all on Chevrolet Philippines MIAS display front. Now we have to wait and watch how these new players score on the sales field.
