City Kart Racing opens Pampanga International Circuit in Porac
MANILA: Unless you plan on ‘adulting’ this weekend – say, maybe test drive some Mazda vehicles so you can decide which one to buy – there’s one more thing you can do that doesn’t involve responsibility. City Kart Racing just opened a new karting track in Porac called the Pampanga International Circuit.
Just so we’re clear, City Kart Racing (CKR) is the same group running Circuit Makati, a 700-meter outdoor kart track located just outside Makati’s Central Business District. The circuit has been around for some time as it first opened in 2013.
Existing members can use the newly-installed track in Pampanga for discounted rates. But for those who are still new to this, an annual membership fee of Php 160 is required on top of the kart racing fees.
The Pampanga International Circuit sets itself apart from the crowd. For starters, whereas most kart tracks have a short course format, the Pampanga circuit has five different layouts available including short course and long course. The longest course spans 1.4 kilometers long and can take more than 1 minute to complete the entire lap.
Circuit Makati was best known for its tunnel and bridge – features that owner Jean-Marc Freihuber added himself. With the Pampanga International Circuit, we have a feeling that it will be loved for its long main straight. Driving along it gives you a satisfying maximum speed of 85 kmph, which should be more than enough for de-stressing purposes.
To mark the special occasion, CKR hosted back-to-back karting championships prior to its grand opening last November 30. These include the 2019 Rotax Philippines Invitational and the 12 Hour Sodi World Series (SWS) Endurance Race.
City Kart Racing Pampanga is located inside SandBox Adventure Park in Porac, Pampanga. It is roughly a 3-hour drive from Makati, which isn’t too bad for a weekend getaway.
The track is open on Tuesdays to Thursdays from 12 PM to 5 PM, and on Fridays to Sundays from 10 AM to 5 PM. Expected rates range is Php 600 to Php 900 for the short track, and Php 1200 to Php 2000 for the long track. Either will get you about 12 minutes of driving.
