Classic meets new in Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition

MANILA: Porsche unboxed the 2021 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition, the first of four exclusive Heritage design models. This model features design elements from the 1950s to the early 1960s, specially reinterpreted for Porsche enthusiasts and customers.

Classic interior and exterior design elements have been merged with modern technology in a limited-edition model from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. The production run of the edition is only 992 units globally.

Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG Oliver Blume said that through the Heritage Design models, Porsche brings back to life the vintage vehicles of the brand from the 1950s to the 1980s. Moreover, the auto company is creating a new product line through these limited-edition models, which serves as a representation of the “lifestyle” aspect in its product scheme.

The 1950s appeal was created through unique paintwork in Cherry Metallic along with four other exterior colors with gold emblems. Moreover, the exterior of the 911 Targa consists of white livery accented with a classic design. What makes it more stunning are its spear-shaped graphic components on the front fenders, signifying a flashback to the early years of Porsche motorsports.

The Porsche Heritage logo on the rear decklid grille is another standout. It is evocative of the one that was recognized during the time when a Porsche 356 attained the 100,000-kilometer mark. This badge, which appears to be classic with a fresh twist, will be on the rear of all four Porsche Heritage Design models.

The past is inevitably linked to the present. This is through the classic Porsche Crest of 1962, located on the front luggage compartment lid, vehicle keys, wheel hub covers, steering wheel, and embossed on the key pouch and head restraints. The vehicle also features iconic-looking black brake calipers and the 20/21-inch Carrera Exclusive Design wheels.

The interior is also a blast from the past through its unique two-tone leather covering that blends Bordeaux red leather with OLEA club leather in black leather or Atacama beige with OLEA club leather in pure Atacama beige. Corduroy used on door trims and seats is an indication of the comeback of a material that was used before in the Porsche 356 — a throwback to the fashion and style of the 1950s.

Porsche 911 Targa

The first Heritage design model is inspired by the new 2021 911 Targa 4S of the 992 generation, which was recently launched. It features the latest technologies for the infotainment system, driver assistance systems, and chassis.

A 443hp twin-turbo boxer engine also powers the model. It is combined with the standard eight-speed Sport Chrono package and dual-clutch transmission.

The vehicle can attain a top track speed of 303kph, and the time it takes to reach 97 kph from standstill is 3.4 ticks. The 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition can be availed with a seven-speed manual transmission.

The dash-mounted stopwatch and tachometer of the standard Sport Chrono Package includes green lighting, emphasizing the poignant nature of the theme similar to the perforated roofliner made of microfiber fabric and comprehensive Exclusive Manufaktur leather trim. A metal emblem on the trim panel of the dashboard shows the limited edition number.
