Diamond Auto, Top Offroad PH collabs to build adventure-ready EV

MANILA: The Diamond Auto Electric Vehicle Corporation, the official distributor of Dongfeng cars in the Philippines, together with Top Offroad Philippines, have collaborated to build the ultimate off-road rig for the eco-friendly adventurer. 

The modified electric vehicle (EV) unit, which was based on the Dongfeng Rich 6 all-electric pickup truck, was displayed at the recently concluded 2024 Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit. 

Key features of the off-road capable EV include solar panels, a set of knobby General all-terrain tires wrapped around a set of KMC wheels, a Dometic TRT120E tent on top of a Thule roof platform, and many other camping-related gear supplied by Top Offroad Philippines. 

Couple the aforementioned additions with the truck’s vehicle-to-load capacity, and what you have is a truck touted to make outdoor adventures more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. 

With regard to the partnership, the two parties believe that off-road culture and sustainability can go hand-in-hand. As such, both companies have decided to showcase the importance of reducing one’s carbon footprint via the awesome-looking vehicle they built.

For its future plans, Diamond Auto and Top Offroad Philippines will be heading to The Hamptons Caliraya for the Motul King of Riot Challenge 2024 from November 28-December 1. At the event, there will be plenty of fun, family-friendly activities. Off-road enthusiasts, meanwhile, can get to witness one of the biggest extreme off-road racing events in the country. 

To note, the Dongfeng Rich 6 pick-up truck is currently available locally with a price ranging from P2.3 million-P2.68 million. 

Its top-spec Rich 6 450 trim can produce up to 175 horsepower and 435 Newton-meters of torque. It can also cover up to 450 kilometers of range from a single full change, according to the New European Driving Cycle. 

Other notable features of the stock Rich 6 450 include a direct current charging capability of zero to 100 percent in three hours, a battery capacity of 77.28 kilowatt-hours, several drive modes (normal, eco, sport), and a payload capacity of 1,070 kilograms - among others.
