The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 is powered by an HEMI engine that produces 1,025hp at 6,500rpm and 945lb-ft of torque at 4,200rpm. The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 has the fastest G-force acceleration of any production car at 2.004gs. The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 accelerates from 0 to 100kph in just 1.66 seconds.
A nearly new engine and additional features were produced as a result of extensive component upgrades.
The upgraded 3.0-liter supercharger, increased 105mm throttle body, and 3.02-inch pulley resulted in a 40% boost pressure increase over the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody.
High ethanol fuel blends enable the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 to produce its full amount of horsepower, which is determined by measuring the ethanol content in the fuel.
The engine of the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is mated to the TorqueFlite 8HP90 eight-speed automatic transmission, with a redesigned output flange to handle a larger diameter and stronger prop shaft.
The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 also features a new driveline with a 240mm ring gear, 53% stronger differential housing made of aerospace-grade metals, a 30% firmer rear prop shaft, and sturdier half shafts.
The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 is equipped with 315/50R17 Mickey Thompson ET Street R drag radials that have never been offered on a production car before, and Mickey Thompson 245/55R18 ET Street front tires that exert more power on the streets.
TransBrake 2.0 allows for torque shaping and makes it easier for the driver to specify predetermined torque limits. Custom race settings for drag calibrations and maximum weight transfer are provided by specially calibrated valves in adaptive-damping shocks.
A 1,025hp performance car like the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 also requires proper cooling to perform well on the drag strip.
The SRT Power Chiller, which was originally used in a production car for the original Demon, is back to assist in cooling the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170. It can lower the temperature of the air entering the engine by up to 45 degrees Fahrenheit when compared to vehicles without a chiller, redirecting the air-conditioning system to cool the supercharger intercooler for the ideal temperature of the air entering the engine. Once the engine is turned off after a run down the strip, the standard Race Cool Down feature adds more cooling.
The Air-Grabber hood and the Air Catcher headlamps work together to further maximize air intake flow.
The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 offers three drive modes: Custom, Auto (Street), and Drag. These allow the driver to adjust a wide range of vehicle performance parameters, such as steering, suspension, traction control, shift paddles, and transmission.
When Drag Mode is selected, full power is enabled, fastest possible shift speeds and steering wheel paddle shifters are engaged, and greatest amount of steering feel and steering effort is delivered.
The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 will be available in all 14 exterior color options for the Challenger, including returning heritage exterior colors B5 Blue, Plum Crazy purple and Sublime green, as well as modern color Destroyer Grey. All colors will also come with the choice of a unique Satin Black-painted hood or a Satin Black-painted roof, hood, and decklid.
The four-digit VIN can be seen inside the car on a yellow and red Demon instrument panel badge. The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170-specific cluster screen features a red gauge design with a red Demon 170 main cluster graphic. The Alcantara performance steering wheel features an LED “SRT” badge, and real carbon-fiber bezels accentuate the sporty vibe of the cabin.
A commemorative Demon decanter set, serialized to the specific owner and unit, will also be given to each buyer. This includes a custom Demon-styled decanter with the owner’s name and VIN engraved on the back; Demon-badged coasters and whiskey cubes; rocks glasses; Demon 170 supercharger badge cover; owner name, build number, and VIN plate; and unique Demon 170 illustration on the inside top of the set cover.
The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 is the last special-edition Dodge “Last Call” model. The “Last Call” models were introduced as a tribute to the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger, whose current iterations are approaching their end. Previously unveiled “Last Call” models include the Dodge Challenger Shakedown, Dodge Charger Super Bee, Dodge Challenger and Charger Scat Pack Swinger, Dodge Charger King Daytona, and Dodge Challenger Black Ghost.
A special commemorative “Last Call” underhood plaque will be included on every 2023 Charger and Challenger unit, making them a true collector’s vehicle. There is also a new “345” fender badging that references the 345-cubic-inch HEMI engine under the hood.
Only 3,000 units of the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 will be produced for the US, and another 300 for Canada.
