DOTr, MMDA open 3 more median bus stops on EDSA Busway
MANILA: The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) have opened up three new median bus stops along the EDSA Busway.
Located at North Avenue, Quezon Avenue, and Nepa Q-Mart, these will give commuters additional locations to get off and get on PUBs (public utility buses) that ply the EDSA Busway.
This brings the collective number of median bus stops to seven including Guadalupe, Ortigas, Santolan, Main Avenue.
“Sa pagbubukas ng tatlong median bus stop, magiging mas madali, maayos at ligtas ang pagbaba at pagsakay sa mga bus para sa mga pasahero sa mga nasabing lugar (With the opening of the three median bus stops, getting on and off buses will become easier, better, and safer for commuters in those locations),” said DOTr Assistant Secretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure Mark Steven Pastor.
In total, there will be 29 bus stops on the EDSA Busway. Currently, there are 15 bus stops that have been completed. The remaining bus stops will be opened as soon as all the infrastructure and necessary safety equipment are in place to ensure the safety of all passengers.
The DOTr has also deployed four left-door PUBs for specific use on the EDSA Busway. More will be added in the coming days.
Private motorists are being reminded that only PUBs and emergency vehicles are allowed to use the EDSA Busway.
