DPWH gears up for 'Traslacion 2024'

MANILA: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is conducting road maintenance activities along the route of Black Nazarene Grand Procession (commonly known as Traslacion) that will be held on Tuesday.

  • DPWH-National Capital Region Director Loreta Malaluan reported to Secretary Manuel Bonoan that after a joint inspection with the Feast of the Black Nazarene Committee, the DPWH North and South District Engineering Offices (DEO) were given instructions to address defects and other road hazards.

    “Potholes, as well as tree branches and other road obstructions within road right-of-way, are now being cleared by our DEOs to ensure safety of the devotees,” Malaluan stated.

    For the safety of pedestrians, the DPWH North Manila DEO will also place temporary railings on the Arlegui Bridge.

    Preparations for Traslacion

    Malaluan also said that the DPWH DEOs will be lending road barriers for crowd control along the route of the procession.

    This year’s Traslacion will follow the route as stated below:

    1. Quirino Grandstand
    2. Right to Katigbak Drive
    3. Right to Padre Burgos Street via Finance Road
    4. Straight to Ayala Bridge
    5. Left to Palanca Street
    6. Right to Quezon Boulevard
    7. Right to Arlegui Street
    8. Left to Nepomuceno Street
    9. Left to Conception Aguila Street
    10. Right to Carcer Street
    11. Right to Hidalgo via Plaza del Carmen
    12. Left to Bilibid Viejo through Gonzalo Puyat
    13. Left to J.P. de Guzman Street
    14. Right to Hidalgo Street
    15. Left to Quezon Boulevard
    16. Right to Palanca Street under Quezon Bridge
    17. Right to Villalobos through Plaza Miranda heading to Quiapo Church.
