DPWH to begin Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge construction in 2024
MANILA: The construction of the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge (BCIB) is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2024, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

According to DPWH Project Manager Teresita Bauzon, the agency targets to start packages 1 and 2 this year and procure the other packages until next year. She added that the project may be fully completed by mid-2028.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank will fund the project.
Bauzon said that the National Economic Development Authority and the ADB are currently in negotiations for the funding of the project.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. presided over the milestone ceremony for the BCIB’s detailed engineering design at the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific in Mariveles, Bataan on Friday.
Marcos urged DPWH officials, employees, and consultants to be committed to completing the BCIB on time, saying, “Do your best always to ensure that civil works for this bridge will commence by October this year. Do your best also to deliver what we have proposed so that our people and their localities may live out the picture we have painted as our goal as soon as possible.”
The project's feasibility study began in March 2018, sponsored by a loan from the ADB Infrastructure Preparation and Innovation Fund.
