MANILA: The Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) and the Association of Southeast Asian Electric Vehicle Associations (AFEVA) met with VinFast executives in Hanoi, Vietnam to discuss the potential formation of a Vietnam Electric Vehicle Association.

Philippine Commercial Counsellor to Vietnam Rico Mariano was also with the group and mediated the discussion between the delegations.
Araga gave a presentation about the Philippines' electric vehicle industry during the session, outlining the country's current state and future developments. Juan enlightened the attendees on the valuable incentives under the Electric Vehicle Industry and Driving Act (EVIDA), giving an in-depth overview of the law's provisions.
Raquelsantos also pointed out the additional incentives associated with the production of electric jeepneys, highlighting the huge potential that can be realized through the shift toward electric mobility solutions.
VinFast executives, on the other hand, went into detail about the groundbreaking developments in electric vehicles that have occurred in Vietnam.
Given the potential establishment of a Vietnam Electric Vehicle Association, which would become a vital member of AFEVA, the discussions were of utmost importance. This alliance not only aims to fortify regional ties but also promotes the sharing of knowledge, technology, and expertise among Southeast Asian nations.
VinFast executives also expressed their interest to join this year's Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) as part of the growing collaboration. The PEVS, which will be held on October 19 to 21 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, will bring together major players in the electric vehicle industry to discuss the latest trends, innovations, and challenges in the sector.
