EVAP delegates met with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade
MANILA: Delegates representing the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) have visited the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Automotive Sub Council (CCPIT Auto) in Beijing.

The 12th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit is scheduled to take place in October 2024 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.According to EVAP, the two organizations held discussions regarding the promotion of the upcoming 12th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS), scheduled for October 2024, at the SMX Convention Center in Mall of Asia, Pasay City. The two entities also talked about forming collaborations in the electric vehicle (EV) industry.
At the aforementioned visit to CCPIT Auto, EVAP was led by its president, Edmund Araga, and chairman emeritus Ferdi Raquelsantos.
Per EVAP, the said EV summit is set to bring industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders together in one venue. In doing so, conversations regarding the future of electric-powered mobility in the Philippines and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations may be held.
During the meeting in question, CCPIT Auto Assistant Chairman James Chai also shared the pivotal moments in automotive history. Chai mentioned the invention of the automobile by Carl Benz in 1886, up to China’s status as a global leader in EV development, which is said to have happened beginning in 2022.
Araga also shared his excitement with regard to the partnership opportunities between EVAP and CCPIT Auto.
“China’s leadership in the electrification of the automotive industry is an inspiration. We look forward to leveraging this expertise to advance the electric vehicle industry in the Philippines,” Araga said.
As shown by the official 12th PEVS Facebook page, major car brands currently offering EVs will attend the forthcoming event. Some of the said marques include VinFast, Nissan, and Hyundai. The Ayala-led ACMobility will also appear at the event.
