The Mitsubishi Triton is priced from P1.134 million to P1.909 million.Per the Japanese carmaker, the modified cross-country version of the Triton pickup truck to be used by the rally crew will boast “enhanced acceleration performance and road handling.”
Although no numbers pertaining to the Mitsubishi Triton’s power power were disclosed, Team Mitsubishi Ralliart appears to be confident with the upgrade and looks “ready for the victory.”
The team’s AXCR 2024 entry was unveiled at this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show, revealing a new livery.
The 2024 rally truck retained the energetic red trim but adopted a new digitized image of dust at the front, which continues to its flanks. Toward the back are gun mental gray graphics that represent the gushing lava solidifying into hard volcanic rock.
According to Mitsubishi, the new livery embodies the dynamism, durability, and reliability of the Triton rally car.
“Last year, we confirmed the toughness and durability of the all-new Triton in the grueling conditions of AXCR 2023,” Team Mitsubishi Ralliart Team Director Hiroshi Masuoka said in a statement.
“The rally also reaffirmed that the Triton’s strengths lie in its sporty handling and its excellent road handling on rough terrain. This year will be our second year competing with the new-gen Triton, and we have made the Triton rally car more powerful and enhanced its driving performance by widening the tread further so that we can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with competitors’ vehicles with high-displacement engines. Team Mitsubishi Ralliart is taking on the crown, and we look forward to your support,” he added.
Last year, Team Mitsubishi Ralliart fell short of snatching the AXCR victory. Despite not going home with the crown, Chayapon Yotha took third place overall while the squad received the Team Award.
Mitsubishi Triton in PH
Filipino rally fans and admirers of the three-diamond car brand can now purchase the Mitsubishi Triton. Introduced sometime in January, the local wing of the Minato City-headquartered company has finally brought the latest iteration of its iconic pickup truck, effectively replacing the Strada nameplate.
Locally, the Mitsubishi Triton comes with a 2.4-liter turbocharged diesel engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. It can be had with the brand’s Easy Select four-wheel drive (4WD) drivetrain system.
The range-topping Mitsubishi Triton Athlete trim gets a powerplant with the same displacement but boasts a two-stage turbo. In addition, it receives the carmaker’s Super Select 4WD II system as well as seven selectable drive modes.
The Mitsubishi Triton is priced from P1.134 million to P1.909 million.
