Fender and Lexus collaborate for LC Stratocaster guitar, limited to 100 examples

MANILA: Fender's Custom Shop (FCS) announced the launch of a Fender Lexus LC Stratocaster guitar, limited to only 100 pieces worldwide. 

As a collaboration project between the American instrument manufacturer and the Japanese carmaker, the LC Stratocaster guitar features elements inspired by the LC 500 Inspiration Series, limited to 200 examples in the US. 

Among these elements from the car is the Structural Blue finish, a color that produces light metallic blue to deep midnight blue, which was originally inspired by the Morpho butterfly, Lexus said. The paint does not contain any blue material; it looks blue only because of the interference of light, the carmaker added.

Meanwhile, the LC Stratocaster's pickguard is made from twill carbon fiber that is designed to perfectly match the rear spoiler of the Lexus. 

The guitar's neck is fashioned from flame maple and is finished in high-gloss urethane, in order to showcase Fender's woodworking. The fingerboard is made of deep-blue polished Richlite, a composite material known for its tonal properties, structural stability, and resistance to wear and moisture, materials used by FCS for the first time. On the darkened areas of the instrument, white Luminlay fingerboard inlays glow in vivid blue.

Additionally, the fasteners on the pickguard are black button head machine screws which "create a clean automotive appearance," while the pickups are Fender’s latest version of our Noiseless Single Coils.

The LC Stratocaster's headstock face is finished in Structural Blue with a chrome Fender logo. As for the custom case, it is wrapped in carbon fiber textured vinyl, with black leather ends and the Lexus logo embroidered inside the lid.

The crafting of the limited edition instrument was headed by Fender's Master Builder Ron Thorn. He included custom machined brushed aluminum knobs to match the Mark Levinson stereo knobs, the sound systems found in Lexus cars.
