Ferrari F8 Tributo to make PH debut Aug. 17

MANILA: Motostrada, Incorporated, official Ferrari distributor in the Philippines, is set to locally debut the Ferrari F8 Tributo on August 17, 8 p.m.

“There is no need to leave your home, as this will be our first fully digital and online premiere,” the company said, and added the proceedings will be streamed on the official Ferrari Philippines Facebook page.

On the company website, ferrari.com, the F8 Tributo is described as a “mid-rear-engined sports car that represents the highest expression of the Prancing Horse’s classic two-seater berlinetta. It is a car with unique characteristics and, as its name implies, is an homage to the most powerful V8 in Ferrari history.”

Ferrari said that the F8 “sets the benchmark not just for turbos, but for engines across the board.” The 3,902 cc V8 (which delivers 710hp and 770Nm) won Best Engine honors in the International Engine of the Year awards for three years (2016, 2017, and 2018). The power plant was also recognized as the best engine of the last two decades.

The F8 Tributo replaces the 488 GTB, and the Italian super carmaker says the Tributo surpasses its elder sibling with “improvements across the board” including “better control on the limit, along with greater on-board comfort.”

Lighter, more powerful by 50hp and 10Nm, and with increased aerodynamic efficiency (by 10%), the F8 Tributo “offers the highest levels of performance of any car in the current range, that performance is also very usable.” Ferrari also said that the F8 Tributo delivers its full power “without the slightest hint of turbo lag and produces an evocative soundtrack.”

The car is said to muster a standstill-to-100kph time of 2.9 seconds, and reach a top speed of 340kph.

A new Lexan polycarbonate rear screen reveals the 3.9-liter, twin-turbo V8 heart while featuring louvres that extract hot air from the engine bay “without impacting the efficiency of the blown spoiler.” This calls to mind the F40, the most famous of the Prancing Horse’s V8s. The spoiler visually lowers the F8’s center of gravity by wrapping around the taillights. Its twin light cluster and body-colored tail is yet another homage to eight-cylinder berlinettas like 1975 308 GTB.

While the cabin boasts a driver-oriented cockpit, the dash, door panels, and tunnel have been redesigned. The company says the new generation HMI (Human Machine Interface), “complete with round air vents, new steering wheel and controls as well as a new 7” passenger touchscreen display, significantly enhance the on-board environment for driver and passenger.”

The supercar measures 4.6 meters long, 1.9 meters wide, and 1.2 meters tall.
