First ever BMW X2 launched in the Philippines
MANILA: BMW introduced the all-new X2 to the global auto arena at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show that was scheduled for mid-January. Post its debut, the new BMW coupe-crossover has been launched in many countries, leaving the Philippines thirsty for its charm. But as the sun shines bright, we got the news of the BMW X2 arriving at our shores.
You heard it right, after three-months of wait, BMW finally launched the all-new X2 in the Philippines. With the entry of this new car, the total count of BMW crossovers available in the country comes down to six, three of which, i.e. X4, X6, and X2 are coupe-crossovers. Like the BMW X4 is a sleeker version of X3, the X2 is that of X1.
This new BMW crossover is a sheer mix of dynamic styling, high-performance standards, and precision handling. Further, enhancing its sporty intentions, the Philippines spec comes with a standard M Sports tuning. Staying true to the coupe design, the X2 displays a unique balance between athletic and elegant design language. Few design elements that score high on the list are the Frozen Grey sporty twin-pipeline, stiff shoulder line, impressive alloy wheels, and BMW logo resting on the C-pillar.
Contributing to its striking outer appeal and spacious cabin are BMW X2s extended dimension specs. The crossover measures 4,360 mm in length, 1,526 mm in width, and 2,098 mm in height. In addition to the notable leg-and knee-room, the X2 features a large boot space with a capacity of 470 litres.
The X2 cabin looks similar to that of X1 and features offered are – the driver-focused cabin design with all controls placed well within the reach of the driver, and same button, air-con system, and dial design. The presence of M Sport package gives the interior a performance car look. Included in this kit are body-hugging seats, aluminum trimming, multi-functional steering, and ambient lighting in mint, blue, bronze, orange, and white.
The Philippines-spec X2 is powered by a 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo engine, it's the same mill that sits under the BMW X1 hood. Performance figures in both the models remain same at 190 PS and 400 Nm. Coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission the power flows to all wheels.
The X2 variant available in the Philippines is BMW X2 20d xDrive M Sport, and it holds a starting price tag of Php 4,390,000.
