First Half 2016 Sales Report Out By CAMPI - Toyota Philippines Leads With 43.4 Percent
MANILA: Finally, CAMPI has released the sales report for the first half of 2016 and it's indeed exciting. The agency has revealed that the Philippines automotive market has seen a growth of 27 percent cumulatively in the first 6 months this year in comparison to that of 2015 for the same tenure. The agency has also revealed that, just like earlier times, the mass market cars have been more in demand in comparison to the luxury or high-end cars and so the credit for this growth goes to them. With this, CAMPI has also mentioned one more interesting fact where the sales have been better in June 2016 than that of June 2015. While the overall sales between January and June 2016 were 167,481 units in comparison to 131,465 units in 2015 between the same period, the sales figures for June 2016 have been equally fascinating. Some auto brands have already revealed their respective sales growth including Ford Philippines which attained 61 percent in comparison to last year.
CAMPI President, Rommel Gutierrez, has mentioned that the growth looks promising for this year which is indeed a good news for all the automotive brands available in the country. With this, the president also shared that the appreciative sales figures will encourage more auto brands to come to the Philippines with their fleet. In his words, “We remain confident in achieving our initial target for the year with a continued supply of vehicles, attractive promos and affordable financing scheme, among others”. Indeed the growth in the sales figures is a joint result of new and updated technology, promos, new launches and other efforts by the automakers to lure more customers.
Coming to the spots grabbed by the automakers, the latest CAMPI report is no different than the earlier ones than the percent of the market share grabbed by these top 5 brands. Toyota Philippines is still ruling the sales chart with 72,642 units sold from its house capturing 43.4 percent of market share. Following this is Mitsubishi Philippines which has sold a total of 30,372 units in past 6 months ensuring 18.1 percent of market share and 2nd spot on the chart. The company also witnessed a personal growth of 21 percent in comparison to last year between January to June 2015. Ford Philippines is still on the 3rd position which it managed to grab by selling 16,769 units resulting in 10 percent of the market. Isuzu Philippines is still firm on the 4th position in the Philippines automotive market with 7.9 percent and 13,258 units traded. Recently the brand released its individual sales report and revealed that it achieved 30.4 percent of personal growth. On the 5th position is the Japanese giant Honda Philippines with 6.7 percent of market share and 11,179 units sold in the country.
Surely Toyota is leading the troop with a big number which is not an easy thing to chase for the rest of the auto brands. Though the first half is gone but the automakers still have another half to accomplish their set targets and change their market positions, it's not as easy as it sounds. Surely, between this cat fights to chase a better position in the sales chart, we Filipinos can expect some really good deals, offers, freebies and new launches as the new strategy by these automakers to encourage sales. Dear automakers, all we would say is, BRING IT ON!
