Ford F-Series is America’s best-selling truck for 46th consecutive year

MANILA: After selling an average of one F-Series truck every 49 seconds in 2022, Ford reported that the sales of the best-selling truck has surpassed 640,000 trucks last year, making it America's best-selling truck for 46 years in a row and America's best-selling vehicle for 41 years.

“The Ford truck team’s ability to anticipate customer needs, continuously innovate, and provide best-in-class levels of capability and performance has helped make F-Series the sales leader time and time again. We’re honored and humbled that our customers have helped us achieve this milestone for more than four decades,” Ford Blue President Kumar Galhotra stated.

 

With the all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning, which went on sale in 2022 and instantly became the best-selling electric pickup on the market, the F-Series, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, continues to set the standard for innovation and lead the industry. Further solidifying the F-Series as the truck of choice for buyers of heavy-duty trucks is the all-new F-Series Super Duty, which boasts groundbreaking features and capabilities.

Ford offers the widest lineup of trucks in America, including the Maverick, Ranger, F-150, Super Duty, and all the way up to the F-750.

However, despite dominating the sales rankings, it is anticipated that Ford F-Series sales will be lower than in recent years. Through November, truck sales were down almost 13% versus the previous year, but Ford predicted that sales in November will be the highest for the F-Series in 2022.

In 2021, Ford delivered 726,004 F-Series trucks, a 7.8% decrease from the more than 787,400 units it sold in 2020. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Ford sold around 900,000 of the model yearly.

Ford has made an effort to prioritize the assembly of the F-Series, including the new electric F-150 Lightning, despite recurring factory shutdowns brought on by the recent parts shortage. To maintain production, Ford even started constructing vehicles in parts and finishing them later.

There is concern on Wall Street that the most profitable days for carmakers like Ford may be behind them due to rising interest rates, dropping used car values, and a rebalancing of the sales mix away from fully loaded vehicles.

Ford is scheduled to disclose its overall year-end sales tomorrow after other major carmakers are expected to report results.
