Ford Focus RS Fires Out a Flooding 350 PS
MANILA: Amidst the whole power war among automobile giants, Ford has come out like a champion of the colloseum, by revealing the power figures for its new EcoBoost powered 2016 Focus RS. The company has officially revealed the staggering data for the Focus RS, which is supposed to puff out pure power well beyond 319 PS.
Engineered and carved in Ford factory, enhanced with Ford Performance, The EcoBoost inline-four fitted on the Focus RS spews 350 PS with a sheer torque of 440 Nm distributing over the 2,000-4,500 rpm. Compared to its sibling EcoBoost Mustang, which is mated to the same engine, this 5-door Focus RS leads with 40 PS and 6 Nm of Torque.
Focus RS exploits a torque vectoring mechanism, which is mated to Ford Performance AWD, in order to distribute the torque losslessly to each wheel, through a 6-speed manual gearbox. According to Dave Pericak, Global Director of Ford Performance, Ford is keen to deliver the enthusiasts, a serious driving machine, and with 350 PS blaring out from its engine, it has kept its promise. The all-new Focus RS will go head-to-head with performance oriented beasts from luxury and exotic giants, and it is all set to give them a hard time.
The heap of modifications, which squeezes out the most out of the all-aluminum engine, makes it possible to boost the power output of Focus RS. A large compressor to provide more air intake is coupled to a new low-inertia twin-scroll trubocharger mechanism. Intercooler and radiator are made bigger to keep the drivetrain cool with lesser entropy. According to Ford, the flexible intake design and a performance exhaust system ensure that back pressure and noise levels are at optimal echelons.
“This very special 2.3-litre EcoBoost unit will inspire drivers as they feel the surge of the turbo, and reward them as they take it to the red line – all delivered with a visceral sound guaranteed to put a smile on your face,” said Pericak.
Focus RS will fill the hearts of auto enthusiasts with sheer excitement at this year's Goodwood FoS hill climb, as announced by Ford. The debut will be exhilerating, as World Rallycross driver Ken Block will be behind the wheels of Focus RS, he is also the one behind the curtains, who has helped developing this beast.
