Vehicles were evaluated for their performance, comfort, technology, design, efficiency, environmental effect, and overall value.
The jury was impressed by the capabilities of the Ford Ranger, saying, “This is a reliable, stylish, and charismatic pickup. It moves with ease over any terrain. It’s as efficient as an off-roader, but more practical thanks to its cargo box.”
The Ford Ranger features the recognizable “Built Ford Tough” appearance with its new prominent grille, rear box side steps, a wider track and wheelbase, an embossed tailgate, LED tail lamps, and C-clamp LED headlamps. Meanwhile, the cabin is equipped with the Ranger-first eight-inch digital instrument cluster, the best-in-class 10- or 12-inch portrait touchscreen, the 360-degree camera, and SYNC 4A with Wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto capability.
Excellent ride and handling are guaranteed whether towing, travelling with passengers, or carrying a full load of cargo, thanks to the improved chassis and suspension with a 50mm increase in track width.
Safety is at the forefront of the Ford Ranger, as it is equipped with six or seven airbags (for the Wildtrak variants) and a wide range of advanced driver-assistance systems like Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering, Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning, and Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert and Braking.
Ford conducted more than 5,000 interviews across different countries to develop the Ford Ranger based on actual customer feedback. Millions of kilometers of testing were conducted in 10 countries to make sure it satisfies or surpasses customer expectations for performance and reliability.
“Having worked on the new Ranger right from the beginning, I know how much customer feedback was poured into the truck to ensure it was fit for work, family, and play, and, as a mother, I can fully appreciate the truck’s practicality and versatility,” Ford Ranger and Everest Platform Program Manager Natasha Milner stated. “Thank you to the Women’s World Car of the Year jury for this award, which recognizes Ranger’s global appeal and ultimate capability.”
