Ford reopens order books in US for all-electric F-150 Lightning

MANILA: Ford is reopening order books for the F-150 Lightning in the US, adding new upgrades such as an increase in standard-range battery models' EPA-estimated targeted range and inclusion of Pro Trailer Hitch Assist technology.

The Ford F-150 Lighting variants with the standard-range battery will have a targeted EPA-estimated range of 240 miles, up from 230 miles. Meanwhile, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist automatically regulates steering, throttle, and brake inputs to facilitate trailer hitching.

Avalanche Gray and Azure Gray metallic tri-coat are two of the new colors that Ford F-150 Lightning buyers can select from among the 10 available options.

The Ford Pro Special Service Vehicle Package is now offered on Ford F-150 Lightning Pro models. Included in this package are police-grade heavy-duty cloth front seats, built-in steel intrusion plates, and optional roof-mounted LED warning lights.

For the first time since the Ford F-150 Lightning's debut in May 2021, Ford is adjusting its MSRP due to material cost increases and other factors. Prices now range from US$46,974 to US$96,874.

A private offer for use in upcoming waves will be sent to Ford F-150 Lightning reservation holders who previously got an invitation to order but chose to extend their reservation as their vehicle specification was not yet available.

In a statement, Ford Chief Customer Officer Marin Gjaja said, “Current order holders awaiting delivery are not impacted by these price adjustments. We’ve announced pricing ahead of re-opening order banks so our reservation holders can make an informed decision around ordering a Lightning.”

The all-electric F-150 Lightning pickup is part of the Ford F-Series, which has been the most popular truck in America for 45 years. More than 4,400 units have been sold to date since its official launch last April.
