Ford upgrades off-road capabilities of Ranger models via Fox shocks
MANILA: The Ford Ranger is a pickup that is intended to accomplish the most challenging tasks for its owners, like moving and carrying loads for work or going through a mountain trail.
Now, Ford made a major investment in improving the off-road capabilities of the Ranger through Fox shock absorbers, which are at the core of the suspension systems of the all-new Ranger FX4 Max and the Ranger Raptor.
Ford has provided the Ranger Raptor and FX4 Max the capacity to travel across rugged terrain at high speeds with comfort, stability, and control through the use of performance-oriented Fox shock absorbers. This same off-road performance translates flawlessly on the road, where the FX4 Max and Ranger Raptor are both manageable and comfortable as they are off-road.
The Ford Ranger is a 4x4 truck developed to conquer various road obstacles, and the clever tuning and Fox shock absorbers provide the FX4 Max and the Ranger Raptor an upgraded driving experience.
There are three aspects that make the Fox shock absorbers an exceptional off-road driving companion.
First, the Fox performance-ready suspension on the Ranger Raptor brings up to 30% more wheel travel compared to regular shock absorbers. Wheel travel refers to the distance made for a wheel to be able to travel to the bottom or top of the movement.
The Fox shock absorbers on the FX4 Max and Ranger Raptor have been developed to manage a combination of slow and high-speed driving and load carrying.
These shock absorbers have also been designed for off- and on-road comfort, enabling owners to shift from rough to smooth roads conveniently.
The suspension of the FX4 Max delivers an off-road capability and stance through its 2.0-inch monotube shock absorbers at the rear and front.
The rear shocks have a remote reservoir that allows fast recovery from broad and extended off-road utilization. They are grouped with tuned coil springs at the front as well as staggered shock configuration at the rear to handle loads.
The race-bred suspension of the Ranger Raptor has been designed to handle challenging terrain at high speeds while maintaining full comfort and control.
The Positive Sensitive Damping (PSD) shock absorbers (dampers) offer higher damping forces at full rebound and jounce to allow better off-road capabilities, as well as lower damping forces in the mid-travel zone for a superb plush drive during on-road trips.
For over 30 years, Fox has been regarded as an industry leader in the development and conceptualization of high-performance shock absorbers as well as racing suspension products for SUVs, trucks, 4x4 off-road vehicles, UTVs, ATVs, motorcycles, mountain bikes, and snowmobiles.
Ford utilizes Fox shocks across a wide range of performance pickup vehicles with Ford engineers being responsible for the tuning of such vehicles to attain excellent performance.
The Ranger FX4 Max can be availed in all Ford dealer centers nationwide at an introductory price of P1,698,000.
Meanwhile, customers who will buy the Ranger Raptor can still take advantage of the Ranger Raptor Premium Care Package, which include free five-year roadside assistance, five-year warranty (from three years), and a free five-year scheduled service plan.
