GAC launches new GS4, retails for P1.098-M

MANILA: GAC Motor Philippines has launched the second-generation GAC GS4, which the Chinese carmaker describes as having a sleeker look and more technologically advanced features.

The GS4 is designed with LED headlights and LED daytime running lights, along with a reshaped grille. At the rear, LED taillights, a metal chrome on the tailgate, and slimmer turn signal lights are the highlights.

Seventeen-inch alloy wheels and a panoramic sunroof with jam protection complete the new look. 

When it comes to dimensions, the new GS4 is said to be wider and taller, with a lower ground clearance compared to the outgoing model.

Inside, the new GS4 dashboard is "inspired by a light prism dual-star design to make it more appealing to the younger generation of customers," GAC said.

This stylish dashboard carries the 3.5-inch instrument panel display, and eight-inch LCD infotainment display with Bluetooth and Apple Carplay connectivity. Additional equipment includes the six-speaker audio system, and multi-functional steering wheel with audio and cruise controls. 

To spice up the interior, the new GS4's leatherette seats can be finished in two-tone (black and caramel brown) or black colors. 

The driver and passenger perches are equipped with six-way and four-way manual adjustable sport-inspired leatherette seats, respectively, with lumbar support for a more comfortable driving experience. Meanwhile, the rear seats have central armrests with cupholders and three independent adjustable headrests.

The interior is made up of high-quality and eco-friendly raw materials such as low-odor water-based PVC leather, and low-odor polypropylene plastics, to help in eliminating the sources of unpleasant odor.

Continuing the clean theme is the GS4's air-conditioning filter with PM1-level filtration, which aims to keeps clean air in the cabin. It also filters over 99.7% of smaller dust particles, common dust, and pollen. 

The new GS4 is powered by GAC's third-generation of Euro 5-compliant 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, which is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. The engine makes 166hp and 270Nm of torque.  

Contributing to the power and torque output is the engine's Bosch high-pressure system and a single-cycle triple injection technology. GAC said these engine features ensures high combustion efficiency, while the low-inertia turbocharger gives a faster response and earlier peak torque.

GAC Philippines is offering the GS4 in1.5L 270T GB guise, which retails for P1.098 million. The crossover is available in five colors (Lightning Blue, Rosefinch Red, Benite Gray, Ivory White, and Elegant Black), and comes with a five-year or 150,000-kilometer warranty, whichever comes first.
