Gas price down, diesel up on second day of GCQ
MANILA: Expect a minor change in the price of fuel today, gasoline and LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) go down, diesel up and kerosene are up.
At 6 a.m. today, Cleanfuel, Flying V, Petro Gazz, Phoenix Petroleum, PTT Philippines, Seaoil, and Shell all implemented a P0.20 per liter rollback in the price of gasoline while taking the price of diesel up by P0.25 per liter.
It has not yet been determined if the increase in the price of diesel already reflects the temporary import duty levied by President Duterte’s Executive Order (EO) 113, which seeks to raise Php 6.78 billion to aid Filipinos affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the economy opens this week after almost three months of shutdown, the movement of motorists and public utility vehicles (PUVs) will mean much needed revenue for petroleum companies that have been hit hard by the community quarantine.
Price of kerosene from Flying V, Seaoil, and Shell will go up by P0.80 per liter, while LPG from Petron and Phoenix will go down by P0.30 per liter, and from Solane by P0.27 per liter.
Don’t expect the price of automotive fuel to stay with EO 113 on the horizon as well as reports indicating that Saudi Arabia plans to increase their selling price of oil to Asia next month by US$3.80 per barrel.
