“Following its debut at GIIAS 2023 and the enthusiastic response from visitors, we are capitalizing on this positive momentum today to launch the all-new Nissan Serena e-Power,” Nissan Motor Distributor Indonesia President Director Evensius Go said in a statement.

“We are confident that the all-new Nissan Serena e-Power will resonate deeply with Indonesian families looking for a family-friendly MPV," he added.

    New-energy MPV

Propulsion for the Indonesian-spec all-new Nissan Serena e-Power comes from an electric motor that draws energy from a 1.769 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery. It dishes out some 160 horsepower with 315 Newton-meters of torque.

Acting as a generator to keep the battery juiced up is a 1.4-liter gasoline engine.

The introduction of the e-Power version of the Nissan Serena is a step forward towards Nissan’s commitment to electrification.

Its notable features include seats for seven, a 12.3-inch full thin-film transistor instrument meter, a similarly sized (12.3 inches) infotainment system, triple-zone air conditioning with plasma cluster ionizer, a wireless charger, and four speakers.

“Nissan aims to enrich people's lives and create a future where everyone can experience enjoyable mobility. At GIIAS 2024, Nissan displays various electrified models to demonstrate our commitment to providing innovation and fulfilling experiences for customers, marking a significant milestone in Nissan's journey in Indonesia,” Nissan ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and Thailand President Toshihiro Fujiki.

    Pricing

The all-new Nissan Serena e-Power is priced at rp (Indonesian rupiah) 635 million or approximately P2.286 million.

Nissan also has an MPV offering in the Philippines.

The Nissan Livina — which is the carmaker’s version of the Mitsubishi Xpander — is currently available locally with a price tag that ranges from P1.069 million to P1.249 million.

Unlike the all-new Nissan Serena e-Power though, it is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic transmission.

Performance-wise, it puts out some 103 horsepower with 141 Newton-meters of torque.

For those on the market for a model equipped with Nissan's e-Power technology in the country, the Kicks crossover would be a perfect fit.

The said vehicle is priced from P1.179 million to P1.1479 million and offers would-be owners a 100-percent electric motor driven system, which Nissan compares to the same high-performance of an all-electric car.

While the all-new Nissan Serena e-Power uses a 1.4-liter gasoline engine as its generator, the Kicks e-Power is fitted with a 1.198-liter gasoline mill to charge the battery, making it sort of a self-charging new-energy vehicle.
