What improvements did Grab Philippines apply to GrabCar?
Grab Philippines made GrabCar more reliable thanks to advance booking, multi-taxi type booking, and group rides. The company also made sure to provide fair fares that were equitable to both Grab partner drivers and its customers.Where is Grab based?
Grab is based in Singapore. The aforementioned features on the Grab smartphone application were rolled out by the transport network vehicle service (TNVS) provider in 2024. So far, the company claims it has helped nine out of 10 passengers get a ride in just 21 seconds.
Leveraging tech
One of the foremost improvements made to the Grab app within 2024 is the advance booking feature, which does much for its reliability. Per the Singapore-based corporation, it ensures punctual rides, especially for folks going to the airport or any other time-sensitive activity.
The said service allows booking for up to seven days in advance. Plus, it has a guaranteed on-time pick-up, as well as a flexible reservation window.
The Grab Group Rides, meanwhile, is a new app capability that allows multiple passengers to share a car. It is touted to be more economical because passengers get to share in paying the standard base fare.
Also introduced this year is the ability to book multiple ride types. The said feature is said to be able to cut down on wait times thanks as it can book the nearest available car regardless of whether it’s a four-seater, six-seater, or GrabTaxi.
In addition, Grab has also addressed the growing transport demand in the country with its release of 25,000 TNVS slots in 2023. More Grab driver-partners on the road may also mean shorter booking times and shorter wait times for clients.
Fair fares
Grab Philippines made its TNVS more equitable for its drivers and users thanks to fair fares. Per Grab, it ensures a stable demand-supply market, and it also provides a living wage for its driver-partners.
“With our data-driven tools, we offer fares that are fair for both our passengers and driver-partners amid ever-changing market conditions. Fair fares mean our driver-partners can earn a living wage enough to cover their everyday expenses and costs related to maintaining a vehicle,” Grab Philippines Chief Operating Officer Ronald Roda said.
“This is approximately two times the current minimum wage in Metro Manila. Along with this, we also maintain service accessibility and affordability of our services for consumers - all in accordance with set fare guidelines by the LTFRB,” Roda added.
