MANILA: To ensure safe rides for its passengers, Grab Philippines is conducting continuous learning initiatives for its drivers, refreshing their knowledge on road safety skills and regulations.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How many drivers and delivery riders have taken part in the Drive Safe: Takbong Pogi, Safe Palagi lecture series?

Around 1,000 Grab drivers and delivery riders have taken part in the lecture series to date.
  • What is GrabAcademy?

GrabAcademy is an in-app learning platform that offers a wide range of educational programs for drivers, delivery riders, and merchant partners, covering topics like road safety, vehicle sanitation, and data protection, as well as refresher courses on service quality standards and platform guidelines.
  • One of Grab's primary skills development programs is the "Drive Safe: Takbong Pogi, Safe Palagi" lecture series where speakers from Grab and partner organizations remind the drivers and delivery riders on traffic safety tips. The webinar, which is held quarterly, focuses on vehicle maintenance tips, safety rules, and driver wellbeing solutions.

In the latest session of the series on Tuesday, Grab partnered with global construction material provider Cemex to share tips on how to safely ply the roads with heavy- and light-duty trucks.

The lecture series also covers all aspects of passenger handling and gives Grab drivers essential customer service rules and tips. Among the topics covered in the lecture were gender sensitivity, the use of appropriate language, and general code of conduct.

Those who complete a course will receive a certificate of completion through their driver or merchant apps.

“Road safety is more than just abiding by traffic regulations as it is a multi-dimensional commitment that requires a 360-degree approach. At Grab, we embrace a holistic safety ethos by introducing industry-first safety features within our app and equipping our driver-partners with the skills needed to offer safe rides,” Grab Philippines Head of Operations CJ Lacsican stated.
