Guadiz in hot water following corruption allegations
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the suspension of Teofilo Guadiz III as Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board chairman.
In a statement, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said that the country's chief executive "does not tolerate any misconduct in his administration and has instructed the immediate investigation of this matter."
"He strongly condemns dishonesty and duplicity in public service," it added.
The order followed the Notice to Explain issued by Department of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary of Legal Affairs Reinier Paul Yebra regarding corruption allegations.
Yebra is giving Guadiz three days to explain his side regarding the probable misconduct wherein the latter allegedly received "grease money" from a representative of seven UV Transport groups and a client applying for 27 Grab franchises.
Guadiz became the LTFRB chair late last year when he took the position that Cheloy Garafil vacated in October 2022.
Before being LTFRB chair, Guadiz served as the DOTr Assistant Secretary for the Road Sector after he was replaced as LTO chief by Jose Arturo Tugade.
