Hennessey Performance offers an impressive 1,200 hp Chevrolet Corvette
MANILA: Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) announced its plans to create a 2020 Corvette Stingray that can go from mild to wild.
Company founder John Hennessey announced their excitement about the new C8 Corvette, “we expect the new C8 Corvette to be an excellent platform from which our clients can further personalize their cars, which obviously includes adding more power and performance.” He also revealed that they have already developed some plans for it,
“from mild to wild, we plan to offer a wide variety of track-tested parts and upgrades that come with a warranty. We’ve modified over 500 C7 Corvettes since 2013 and expect to upgrade many more C8 Corvettes starting in 2020!”
The Texas tuning powerhouse announced that the Z51 Performance Package with a ‘mild’ 495 Hp of power still makes the mid-engined 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray the most powerful entry-level corvette ever when it officially debuts in January. But Hennessey Performance's "HPE1200 Twin Turbo C8 Corvette" will be a special built with a new LT2 6.2-liter V8 partnered to a twin-turbo system and upgraded internals that include forged aluminum pistons, a higher compression ratio,
forged steel rods, and upgraded factory dual-clutch transmission. Optional internal upgrades are a full Brembo brake upgrade, adjustable Penske suspension, and a new set of rims and tires. There is also a plan to offer a stainless-steel exhaust system for improved acoustic and a slight enhancement on power.
Cosmetic modification to match a more powerful performance includes a ‘CarbonAero’ body upgrade, carbon fiber splitter, air dam and rear wing, and a patriotic custom paint—a white body with red and blue racing stripes, and American flags on both ends of the rear wings.
The eighth-generation Corvette is not the first supercar that Hennessey had customized to run on those numbers. Most recently, its custom ZR1 and "Resurrection" Camaro ZL1 1LE also received the same special engine treatment. But what is most exciting about the custom Corvette that speed fanatic would drool over is that straight from production,
the Stingray can hit 97 km/h in only 2.8 seconds! That’s two-tenths of a second faster than the production version of the flagship ZR1 Corvette. And with almost 700 Hp of added power, there’s just no telling how fast the Hennessey custom C8 Corvette can go.
No prices yet on any of the Hennessey’s aftersales kits but expect the tuning powerhouse to release the prices right after the computer tuning becomes available for the new C8 engine platform.
But if you can hardly wait to line up for it, you can register your C8 interest by visiting Hennessey’s website and answering their short survey form to know which upgrade is best suited for you.
