Here are more details about the forthcoming pure-electric vehicle from Lexus

MANILA: Lexus has recently unveiled the all-new Lexus RZ, the brand’s first pure-electric vehicle which will be officially rolled out in 2022.

The Lexus RZ will rise on the e-TNGA platform that used in the new Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra. It will be powered by the same 71.5-kWh battery pack and dual-motor powertrain found in the bZ4X. The Toyota EV’s system churns out 215hp and 336Nm of torque, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from a standstill to 100kph in 7.7 seconds and achieve a maximum range of 450 km.

The Lexus RZ will also feature DIRECT4, a four-wheel-drive system that continually analyzes the drive force to the wheels and tunes it based on throttle, steering inputs, and road conditions. According to Lexus, the technology allows the RZ to go “from front-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive and everything in between, in the blink of an eye.”

Another innovative feature is the steer-by-wire technology, which eliminates the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels. This configuration, according to Lexus, helps improve steering response and allows the driver to make U-turns with inputs of only 150 degrees.

The pricing for the all-new Lexus RZ is yet to be announced.
