The pick-up truck was previewed at the Manila International Motor Show 2024 last April. The pick-up truck’s arrival was confirmed to Zigwheels Philippines by JAC (Jianghuai Automobile Company) International Regional Director for Asia Pacific Jessica Ji and JAC Philippines Brand Head Tonette Lee during a recent engagement with the motoring media. However, the company has yet to share the specific date for its formal launch.
While waiting for the Astara-led distributor to release the official announcement about the vehicle’s specifications, here are some details about the pick-up truck as seen in its home country.
With a maximum payload of 1,000 kilograms, the JAC T9 measures 5,330 millimeters (mm) long; 1,965 mm wide; and 1,920 mm tall with a 3,110-mm wheelbase. Its cargo box alone is 1,520 mm long; 1,590 mm wide, and 470 mm deep.
Its overall athletic stance is complemented by exterior features such as the bold fascia that carries the brand logo, an all-LED illumination system, chiseled edges, low beltline, and a power sunroof — which makes it a lifestyle pick-up truck.
Overseas, the vehicle sits on 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 260/65 radial tires.
Inside the cabin are some luxurious appointments, starting with the leather (either in black and brown or pure black) covering the seats, steering wheel, door panels, and a portion of the dashboard; spacious leg and headroom; seven-inch digital instrument panel; 10.4-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment system (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity), 50-watt wireless charging dock, and cooling air vent in central armrest box.
Possibly powering the soon-to-be-launched JAC T9 in the Philippines is the 2.0-liter diesel engine that has a maximum output of 170 horses (hp) and 410 Newton-meters (Nm). However, the model also has a gasoline mill counterpart that produces 231 hp and 380 Nm of torque.
Both mills (paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission) are offered in 4x4 set-up and three drive modes (Normal, Eco and Power).
Providing stability for the JAC T9 abroad are the double wishbone independent suspension with coil spring for the front and non-independent leaf spring rigid axle suspension for the rear.
Further, the JAC T9 is fitted other nifty features such as the differential locks (either in mechanical or electronic) and comes with a suite safety technologies such as anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake override system, hill-start hold control, hydraulic brake assist, traction control, vehicle dynamics control, electronic stability control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, emergency lane keep, blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert, forward collision warning, rear collision warning, traffic jam assistant, driver monitor system, autonomous emergency braking, integrated cruise assist, among others.
