Here are the Top 10 2025 WCOTY finalists

MANILA: The top ten finalists for the prestigious 2025 World Car of the Year (WCOTY) have been announced by the World Car Awards. 

From an initial list of 52 contenders, the top ten were carefully handpicked by a jury of 96 international automotive journalists from 30 countries. Per the award’s organizing body, the said cars were chosen by the judges via a secret ballot. Each vehicle, of course, was previously evaluated by each jury member as a part of their profession as automotive journalists. 

Without further ado, here is the list of the top ten 2025 WCOTY top ten finalists: 

• Audi A5/S5
• BMW X3
• Ford Mustang
• Hyundai Inster/Casper Electric
• Kia EV3
• Mini Cooper Electric
• Suzuki Swift
• Toyota Camry
• Toyota Land Cruiser/Land Cruiser 250
• Volkswagen Tiguan/Tayron

Apart from the top ten 2025 WCOTY finalists, the organizers also released the initial prospects for this year’s World Electric Vehicle, World Luxury Car, World Performance Car, and World Urban Car categories.

Per the World Car Awards, the top three WCOTY vehicles will be announced via live streaming on the World Car TV YouTube channel on March 4, 2025. 

The winners of all the categories mentioned above, on the other hand, will be announced on April 16, 2025, through a live streaming of the World Car Awards Ceremony at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). 

According to the awarding body’s organizers, the ceremony, to be held in April 2025, will mark the 20th year of the World Car Awards’ partnership with NYIAS. 

“As we celebrate 125 years of the New York Auto Show this year, we’re pleased to once again kick off the show by also celebrating the winners of the World Car Awards,” President of NYIAS Mark Schienberg said.  

Receiving a World Car Award from 96 of the world’s top automotive journalists is a major victory for all those involved and is a perfect way to open North America’s first and largest-attended auto show. Congratulations to the World Car team on more than 20 years of excellence, and best of luck to all the finalists,” Schienberg added.
