Honda Civic, HR-V achieve 20kpl-plus in AAP eco run

MANILA: Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) reports the official fuel mileage of the 2022 Honda Civic and the 2022 Honda HR-V, following a recent fuel economy run conducted in partnership with the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP).

The Honda Civic RS Turbo CVT achieved a fuel mileage of 21.43 kilometers per liter. Likewise, both variants of the Honda HR-V registered impressive fuel economy results.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What are fuel economy numbers achieved by the Honda Civic Turbo and HR-V V Turbo in the AAP eco run?

The Honda Civic RS Turbo CVT achieved a fuel mileage of 21.43 kilometers per liter. The Honda HR-V V Turbo CVT netted 24.34 kilometers per liter.
  • What was the recorded fuel consumption of the non-turbo Honda HR-V S in the AAP test?

The Honda HR-V S CVT recorded the highest fuel efficiency rating of 29.66 kilometers per liter. These were from 129 kilometers of highway driving, traveling at 60 to 80kph speed at 1,500-2,000 rpm, with the air-conditioning at 24°C temperature, and the lowest fan speed.
  • The Honda HR-V V Turbo CVT netted 24.34 kilometers per liter, and the Honda HR-V S CVT recorded the highest fuel efficiency rating of 29.66 kilometers per liter. These were from 129 kilometers of highway driving, traveling at 60 to 80kph speed at 1,500-2,000 rpm, with the air-conditioning at 24°C temperature, and the lowest fan speed.

The Civic and HR-V V Turbo are headlined by their 1.5-Liter DOHC i-VTEC Turbo engines that provide an ideal balance of dynamic performance and fuel efficiency. In the Civic, this engine produces 178ps and 240Nm of torque, while in the HR-V V Turbo, this packs 177ps and 240Nm.

Both the Civic and HR-V match their engines with distinct driving modes, with the Turbo variants getting the Sport Mode. These drive modes alter how the car’s powertrain works based on the needs of the driver.

In Econ Mode, the operation of the engine is optimized to align with driving style to maximize fuel efficiency. Normal Mode is used for general and daily driving. Lastly, in Sport Mode, the car’s engine accelerates more readily for more fun and enjoyment when driving.

On the other hand, the non-turbo HR-V S variant produces 121ps and 145Nm of torque. Like Civic variants and HR-V V Turbo, the HR-V S also comes standard with Honda Sensing, which offers extensive protection for drivers and passengers by giving warnings and performing automatic actions to lessen the risk of accidents.

Honda Sensing includes collision mitigation braking system (CMBS), adaptive cruise control (ACC) with low-speed follow (LSF), lane keeping assist system (LKAS), road departure mitigation system with lane departure warning (RDM with LDW), auto high-beam (AHB), and lead car departure notification system (LCDN).

Furthermore, all models’ engines shift with a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) that helps maximize fuel efficiency for a refined driving experience.

“With fluctuating fuel prices, we understand how important fuel efficiency is to vehicle owners. Through this eco run, we are not only demonstrating that Honda vehicles are fuel efficient in local conditions, we also want to encourage customers that they too can have excellent fuel mileage.

It helps to have safe driving habits and to observe the periodic maintenance service, especially combined with advanced technology features like the Honda Sensing,” said Masahiko Nakamura, HCPI President.

Honda is all set on its global targets for environmental performance and safety. These are 100% electrification of automobiles by 2040 and carbon neutrality for products and corporate activities by 2050. In the area of safety, Honda aims for zero collision fatalities from the use of all its products by 2050. On the way there, driving smoothly and efficiently is a practical choice that vehicle owners can take today to improve road safety, save on fuel consumption, and reduce environmental impact.
