Honda Odyssey: Features explained

Honda Odyssey: Features explained

Honda Odyssey is among the five MPVs/SUVs that Honda has got for the Philippines. But it is the only one that is more like a van than an MPV and we’re not complaining. The Odyssey is a no common van, Honda has made sure that it meets the luxury and comfort standards of a high-end sedan. You’d be surprised to see how much different it is from the rest of the Honda’s products. The Honda Odyssey price starts at Php 2.14 million and we think it is really worth the price if you’re looking for a good looking, comfortable, and spacious family or business van. Honda has loaded the Odyssey with various features. We are going to talk about a few of them in this story.

Impressive styling

For a van, the Odyssey has really got an impressive styling. Honda has done a great job in making the Odyssey look like a modern sedan-like van no matter what angle you look at it from. The headlights are large and cover a good amount of the face of the car. Both the headlamps are connected with a dark chrome grille below which are horizontal chrome slats which extend all the way down to the front bumper.

The side profile of the Odyssey shows off the gorgeous alloy wheels. Honda has also put some indentation on the rear sliding doors which is not really to improve the aerodynamics of the car but it surely looks sporty and removes the boredom. Moving to the rear, there are large tail light clusters for max visibility and they’re separated by, again, a bit of chrome.

LED lighting

The fact that the headlights of the Honda Odyssey are full LEDs is very impressive, but Honda didn’t just stop there. The entire lighting on the Odyssey is LED. The headlights, daytime running lights (DRLs), fog lamps, turning lights, taillights, everything is done in LED. Good work, Honda. At Php 2.14 million, you do deserve to have the best things and Honda did just that.

Rear power sliding doors

The rear doors of the Honda Odyssey are sliding type. This itself makes it a bit cool. And the fact that you can use the key to open and shut them by just a click of a button, is quite commendable. The power rear sliding doors are very smooth to function and are somewhat pleasing to watch opening and closing.

Rear captain seats

The 2nd row of the Odyssey has got captain seats. This is one of the best features of this luxurious van. These seats are made of leather and are extremely comfortable. Covering long distance journeys sitting in such seats won’t be a problem at all. Also, there are two bottle holders per seat. There are also AC vents which are located on the side roof. Overall, Honda has taken good care of comfort for the passengers in the 2nd row.

Proper 7-seater

We just talked about the 2nd-row captain seats of the Odyssey. Obviously, putting a pair of captain seats instead of regular ones takes more space. But this doesn’t mean that the last row of seats is cramped. Surprisingly, there is a sufficient amount of leg and headroom for the passengers even in the 3rd row. You can even seat 7 full-size adults here without any problem.

Powerful engine

The Honda Odyssey specs are as impressive as the rest of the car. Powering this gigantic vehicle is a 2.4-litre 4-cylinder engine that is equipped by Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology. This engine produces 175 PS of max power and 226 Nm of peak torque at 4000 revs. It is then mated to a CVT transmission. Honda has tuned this engine perfectly to pull the heavy load of the van along with its occupants. The engine is very smooth and the CVT gearbox makes it easier to drive in the city.

Safety features

To make the 7-seater as safe as possible, Honda has included many safety features in the Odyssey. Starting with the front, side and side curtain airbags, the Odyssey also gets ABS, EBD, Vehicle Stability Assist, Hill Start Assist, Multi-view Camera System, Reverse Camera, Blind Spot Information, and what not?

These were some of the interesting features of the Honda Odyssey. The list of features is a bit long and we can’t talk about all of them in just a single story. But one thing we can do is definitely recommend the Honda Odyssey to you if you need a full-size 7-seater van with business class like comfort.
