Honda PH launches Teen Smart road safety seminars for Sta. Rosa students
MANILA: Honda Cars Philippines Inc (HCPI) spearheads another batch of Teen Smart road safety seminars for senior high school students.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What is the goal of Honda Cars Philippines' Teen Smart seminars?
Through Teen Smart, HCPI wants senior high school students to learn road safety initiatives, whether as pedestrians or vehicle passengers.Where will the Teen Smart seminars be conducted?
Teen Smart will be held online for senior high school students of Sta. Rosa, Laguna.Starting in November, the seminars will continue to be held online until May 2022 for public school students in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna, HCPI said. The Teen Smart programs will be delivered by Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC) instructors, who also received training from Honda Motor Japan.
As part of Honda's “Safety for Everyone" road safety advocacy, the programs will educate the youth on road safety, and share practical advice they can apply as pedestrians or vehicle passengers, HCPI explained. Another goal of Teen Smart is to provide some driving instructions to the students as well.
At the end of the course, HCPI aims that the students develop what it called a "road safety mindset,” or their understanding of human-vehicle-environment relationships.
HCPI has been conducting programs on road safety for teenagers, with the previous one held in March 2019 in partnership with the Sta. Rosa Department of Education (DepEd Sta. Rosa), Sta. Rosa local government, Honda Philippines, Inc (HPI), and HSDC.
In 2004, the YES Move (Youth for Environment and Safety Movement) also promoted road safety through seminar/workshops and competition. YES Move was an earlier version of Teen Smart, made with the help of the Land Transportation Office.
For families, HCPI conducted the One Honda Road Safety (1HRS) in 2017.
"Reaching many schools even beyond Sta. Rosa, thousands of young adults have already participated in the Teen Smart Program," HCPI announced in a release.
The latest Teen Smart program was opened through a virtual signing of Memorandum of Understanding held last November among the following program partners: Manuela S. Tolentino of DepEd Sta. Rosa, Vicenta Balarbar of HCPI, and Gerry Datario of HPI.
HCPI is inviting the public to visit its website to know more about Teen Smart Program, and all other sustainability initiatives of the company.
