Honda teases EV model while revealing more about 2024 Prologue SUV

MANILA: Honda recently provided more information regarding its forthcoming electric vehicle portfolio, which will include the 2024 Prologue and an undisclosed model scheduled for 2025.

In a report, Honda was said to have made the disclosures on Wednesday during a business meeting in Japan where its electrification strategy was the main topic of discussion. Although spokespersons hinted at a brand-new EV for 2025, they provided little information.

The car's body design is yet unknown, although the manufacturer did mention that it will be a "mid to large-size" vehicle built on the company's own e:Architecture platform. The features of the vehicle would play "an important part" in the company's renewed focus on "connectivity and digital services," it was also mentioned at the meeting.

The 2024 Prologue SUV and 2024 Acura ZDX SUV, the brand's first fully-electric introduction into the U.S. market, received far more attention from the manufacturer than its other two EVs. The manufacturer intends to construct both vehicles on the General Motors-designed Ultium platform, with which it also hopes to "further strengthen its alliance."

The Prologue will be offered with all-wheel drive. It will be marketed to active customers who desire the versatility of an SUV and the zero-emission benefits of a BEV.

Outside of the two SUVs, the Honda and GM enterprises are already working together on an accessible electric lineup that is scheduled to launch in 2027. Any discussion of the Afeela sedan, an EV that the Japanese company is creating alongside electronics titan Sony, was conspicuously absent from the meeting's conversation.
