Honda to showcase Prelude Concept at Goodwood

MANILA: Honda will present the Prelude Concept at the forthcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Visitors to the annual European motoring event will get to see the Honda Prelude Concept at the First Glance paddock at the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex, England.

It is said to be equipped with a hybrid powertrain and will put forward the marque’s cutting-edge design and technology. The sixth-generation Honda Prelude is expected to be a fitting return for the nameplate that aims to allow its would-be owners to relish “the joy of driving.”

“The new Prelude not only marks the latest chapter in our ever-evolving hybrid story, but it is also the product of 25 years of pioneering hybrid research and development. Ensuring this model maintains its ‘sporty’ DNA by perfectly blending the efficiency and environmental advantages of electrified driving with an exhilarating experience behind the wheel,” Honda Motor Chief Engineer and Large Project Leader Tomoyuki Yamagami said.

Honda United Kingdom (UK) has confirmed the arrival of the next-generation Prelude in the region and has already put up a dedicated web page to keep its customers informed about the upcoming sporty coupe where it wrote: “Honda is marking 25 years of hybrid success with the European debut of the Honda Prelude Concept hybrid.”

It is touted as the culmination of decades of hybrid engineering and a car that will deliver an exhilarating experience behind the wheel.

Other Honda models in Goodwood

In addition to the Honda Prelude Concept, the Tokyo City-headquartered automotive brand will also bring a selection of its racing heritage Formula 1 cars and Grand Prix motorcycles to Goodwood.

These include the legendary Honda RA272 (race car) and RC142 (motorcycle).

The former is highly regarded in motorsports and is considered the first Japanese car to win a Formula 1 Grand Prix while the latter is a testament to Honda’s dominance in the world of motorcycle racing.

Honda will also take with it its lineup of Civic Type-R cars.

“This event holds a very special place in the hearts of both automotive enthusiasts and Honda, who were one of the original partners in the first Festival of Speed back in 1993. We will have both the original and the Prelude Concept on display, which will be its first European public debut, and then at the other end of the scale, we will also have our renowned hot hatch, the Civic Type-R. We invite everyone to join us and witness the power, performance, and passion that defines Honda. It’s going to be an unforgettable experience whilst we celebrate 60 years since our first F1 race, 25 years of Hybrid Technology and so much more,” she added.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is scheduled to take place from July 11-14.
