Honda To Supply Power Units To Aston Martin F1 Team In 2026

MANILA: Honda made intentions to supply Power Units for the FIA Formula One World Championship (F1) starting in the 2026 season. For the 2026 Formula One season, Honda has agreed to enter into a works relationship with the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team to provide power units that comply with the revised F1 power unit regulations.

Starting with the 2026 season, F1 will implement new rules with a maximum engine/electric motor power output ratio of 50/50 in an effort to reach carbon neutrality by 2030. In comparison to the current ratio, this will represent a huge increase in the deployment of electrical power, and it is also necessary to employ a fuel that is entirely sustainable.

In particular, the 2026 requirements demand a decrease in engine output while tripling the output of the Energy Recovery System (ERS), which turns kinetic energy into electrical energy in specific circumstances, such as braking. As a result, the engine and motor will produce their maximum amount of power, which will be about equal.

These modifications to the F1 power unit regulations are in line with Honda's efforts to achieve carbon neutrality. Respecting these rules will be extremely vital for giving Honda the chance to pursue the development of upcoming technologies in that manner. Honda decided to enter the F1 racing world on the basis of this conviction.

From 2022, the Honda Racing Corporation (HRC), which is now in charge of both motorcycle and automobile motorsports, will also be in charge of managing F1 racing and developing power units as well as participating in races.
