How about an off-road Mitsubishi Delica D:5?
MANILA: People’s favourite since 1968 is back. And the homecoming is quite a delight, to be honest. With the new Delica D:5 already out, the Japanese automaker has come up with a set of accessories dedicated to off-road adventure. The off-roading accessories have been introduced for the 4WD variant of the Delica D:5.
Larger mudflaps which can be opted in either black or red, an under garnish disguised as a skid plate, a metal step, a roof basket, and a faux skid plate transform the heart throbbing van into a mean adventurer. On the inside, we get a 10-inch display which serves the purpose of providing information about navigation, audio, phone, and vehicle all at once thanks to the 4-way split-screen mechanism. The seating arrangement in the Delica D:5 consists 3 rows of 2 full-size chairs in each, taking the total seating capacity to 6 adults.
Furthermore, there is a separate 11.5-inch pull-down screen at the back for the entertainment of the passengers. At the front, there is another screen and this system which includes two screens is called “dual zone entertainment system” by the automaker. The remote system on the Delica D:5 not only allows us to lock and unlock the doors but also lets us control the sliding doors with the remote itself. The newly introduced Delica D:5 in Japan is powered by a 2.2-litre DI-D turbodiesel mill. The engine is good enough for 173 PS of max power and a peak torque of 392 Nm. An 8-speed automatic unit takes care of the power delivery to all the four wheels.
The new Delica D:5 is expected to remain exclusive to Japan. However, like in past, the Japanese automaker might introduce the van in the ASEAN markets where right-side driving is found. The Philippines market is highly unlikely to get its hands on the iconic Delica D:5 unless Mitsubishi decides to build a left-side driving version.
