Hyundai brings the 2018 Kona to the Philippines
MANILA: The Manila International Auto Show starts today and with it comes four-wheelers that’ll give the auto industry new exciting turn. After the Ford Philippines unveiled their two biggest MIAS launches of the season - the 2018 Ford Mustang and the all-new 2018 Expedition, it’s time now to move on to other automakers. Next to Ford, what caught our attention was Hyundai Philippines that staged the all-new 2018 Kona.
Hyundai Kona is a B-segment crossover that according to the company officials is first in the segment to enjoy global distribution. In the Philippines market to specific the all-new Kona will have a tiff against the like of Honda HR-V, Renault Captur, and Mazda CX 3. Seeing the all-new Kona standing in lemon yellow spray, it instantly reminded the onlookers of Nissan Juke, another strong competitor of the new Hyundai crossover.
Here are a few key highlights of the 2018 Hyundai Kona
- The all-new Kona is build on a new platform that’s responsible for its edgy appeal and accompanied modern styling.
- Also, the revised platform affects Kona’s dimension spec that now reads 4165mm X 1800mm X 1500mm (LXWXH). This comes along with considerable wheelbase and ground clearance figure of 2600mm and 170mm respectively.
- The 2018 Kona reflects Hyundai’s new design language that company claims to feature in all its upcoming models.
- Adding to its exterior appeal and low-wide stance are striking elements like dual-headlights, centre positioned fog-lamp, and dual grille design.
- The side gets a matte black casing covering the wheel arches with door-to-door underlining. It’s glossy black pillars and ORVM, and roof rails add to its beauty.
- The rear mirroring the front gets dual tail lights, one near the rear windshield and another fitted in the extended fender case. The roof spoiler and matte black bumper improves its rugged quotient.
- Hyundai’s has given the new Kona a Tucson similar cabin. It features a centre stack design with an integrated audio system setting at the top, followed by A/C vents, and automatic climate control setup.
- The steering wheel comes with audio and utility controls and is covered in leather in top variants.
- Six-speaker audio system, USB, AUX, trip computer, rear air conditioning vents, and AM/FM are amongst the standard features offered in new Kona.
- The base variant comes with standard safety features like - SRS airbags, keyless entry, anti-lock brakes, alarm, rear child seat anchors, and immobiliser.
- Hyundai will offer the 2018 Kona in two mill options in the Philippines. The 2.0-litre four-CYL engine will generate a maximum output of 149 PS and 179 Nm. Next is a 177 PS churning 1.6-litre T-GDI engine.
