Hyundai Drives Filipinos Crazy with New Eon GLX variant
MANILA: While the whole world has their eyes glued to the MIAS 2016, Hyundai has given a pre-feast to the Filipinos in the form of the new variant of its entry-level subcompact-Eon GLX MT. The South Korean brand is already becoming the crowd favorite with the announcement of its GDI technology in the country. Now, the new variant of the Hyundai Eon will step into the shoes of the older variants-GL and GLS as it has unique combination of the quintessential features of these two variants.
Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI) has announced that although the new variant of the entry-level subcompact car is based on the GL and GLS, the brand has added few new features in it to make it more desirable among the crowd. While the front grille has now become a bare black, its front and rear bumpers come with the body-colored paint. We can't find many tweaks inside the new EON GLX variant as it has retained the same elegance as its older variants like black and silver touch on the seats, centre console, steering wheel and door handles. The most noticeable change can be seen on the front headrest as it is now fixed.
If we talk about its mechanics, it is the same old EON which we have grown to love. It carries 0.8-litre three-cylinder petrol engine capable of delivering the total output of 56 hp/75 Nm.
The only thing which doesn't go down well is that the new EON GLX variant doesn't sport the driver's airbag which was standard in the old GLS variant.
The brand has also taken out some features in the new variant to make it more affordable and impressive among the working class with the EON price tag of PhP 508,000.
